A buddy fitted these performance seats on Monday

The original seats are for sale if anyone is interested - car has now done 3500km, so it's still new

yeah, pricey for the bmw stitching, although they do have a passenger airbag if I am not mistaken.

reading on the forums, $1500 recaro branded vs $4000 bmw branded.

I thought so. They're basically Sportster CS's with a different padding/stitching design on the backrest, and the airbag system. http://www.recaro.com/index.php?id=3732&region=0&L=2

You can get those for R14k around here. The BMW seats look awesome though, really like that design!

Yes he did and that was almost two years ago.

I also had them in an E90 330i test car I had from BMW SA early last year.
They are truly amazing.

There was also a BMW CCG member that installed them and the BMW Performance brakes to his red E30 325is....

I have seen these seats in person, they arnt all that they are cracked up to be. and for R50k, you can get Recaro sports seats with your name embroidered onto it. A waste of money if you ask me, rather take that R50k and get the BMW performance intake and maybe a chip, so you get more juice.

Racing seats dont make the car go faster. Thats why F1 cars have racing seats, coz the car is blits fast, and the engine is a beast, not coz the seats make the car faster, lighter (arguably), but not faster.

Of course these seats make the car faster, from the look of it they should add at least 50wkW [/sarcasm]

50k Seems a bit steep for a pair of seats, think of all the other things you could do to the car (performance wise) for that kind of money. But there is no denying it those seats do look awesome.
