PDC retrofit

Hi guys,

Have any of you done a retrofit on PDC? I have an E46 300ci and for some reason the previous owner did not purchase it with PDC. Anyone with a CI will tell you that visibility when the roof is up is pretty poor, so I would not mind getting PDC installed.

Thoughts? Ideas?

Well, PDC retrofit is an option that is available. If you purchase the bits from a scrapped car, I can help with the coding.

I assumed it should be possible to do a retrofit similar to the BC button and xenon retrofit, where the you just need to get the hardware, install it, then get it coded.

I think the toughest part is to locate the sensors, as the standard bumper does not support that, and remember you have to have the sensors sprayed as well. Plugging in the control module should be the easiest part.

I would actually just buy a complete bumper(s) with PDC installed, maybe you pick one up in body color :)

thanks for the advice. I have the M-sport kit on my car. I do not know how easy it will be to find the bumpers though. I do not see many SA-Spec CI's with this spec.

Well, if you take it to a really good panel beater, they can cut your existing bumper, they must just know what they are doing ...

Good looking car that bud, you should do a photoshoot thread :)

For my bumper they I am pretty sure they go in the beading, so I should be able to get away with just the sensors and the replacement beading (with the holes in it) so as the beading is black I won't have to paint the sensors.

@keenstreak, yup the sportspack for the Ci is pretty rare, I have see maybe 3 or 4 of them, pretty awesome that you have one :thumb:

I was actually referring to the rears, as I don't thing they can go at the bottom as it has a diffuser that is rounded off much more than the standard or M-tech I rear bumpers.

Will try and get a pic, photobucket seems to be a bit fubar

This is what the diffuser looks like:

I am not to sure if the sensors will fit there.

with the normal bumper you could have gotten away with just the strip but with Mtech bumper it is replace hole bimper trim or cut holes not sure.

I am not that keen on cutting holes into the bumper. I think that I will just to have to take my chances when reversing. It is not like it is a 7 series or X6, so it should be okay.

Thanks all for the advice though.
