Patrice Motsepe, South African mining magnate and likely the richest man in the country has pledged to give half the money generated by his family assets to the Motsepe Foundation, a charity which improves the lives of the poor, disabled, women and youth. Motsepe’s fortune is estimated at $2.7 billion or R23.94 billion by Forbes.

Motsepe also becomes the first African to join the Giving Pledge, which challenges the world’s wealthiest to give 50 percent or more of their fortune to charity.

Nicely done chap.

If money buys shirts like thAt, hmmm,I think I'm happy being a pauper.

That being said, let's hope it all gets well administered. One day when I'm big hey! good man!

I heard conflicting reports as to whether it's the family fortune or whether it's half of a certain project or organization.

Good job either way!

He should be giving up 50% ownership to previously disadvantaged people who were meant to be the recipients of the BEE advantage. Instead its all in a few fat cats pockets.

The cynic has spoken...

Wait for the story behind this.
