Have been running with the cones for 3 years with no problems.
On the dyno we pull very strong figures as well. We did a back to back test of the stock filter box and the cones and the cones out perform on higher rpms...also depends on mapping

sorry for the hijack, but on this topic,

Im not quiet ready to put in a CAI because of motor plan...

but has anyone had any experience with a Panel filter for the E46 M ?

Im debating weather to spend the R700 odd buks on a performance pan filter
or if its a complete waste of money

yeah , still on motor plan till July, and im gonna extend for another year , the car only has 64000 km..

I dont understand what you saying though, please clarify ?

Nukleuz, Go for a K&N Panel filter. I have one on my e46 ///M and the car breathes real healthy. Like Dmonic said its advantage over stock is that it doesn't need to be replaced during regular service intervals. You can just wash the filter put it back in and you're good to go.

Really recommend getting one.
