Opel Club Cape Town have partnered up with ZAR Lounge & Club to bring you a fun night out, along with doing something charitable all at once

We have chosen 2 organisations to benefit from this event & they are:

1) LEAPS (Lamberts & Elands Bay Animal Protection Services) http://www.leaps.co.za - This is our 3rd time we donating to them. Have to take care of our furry friends as well
2) A 1-person org. "Steps for Success". The person with this huge heart is Rene Davids who collects shoes to donate to various schools in the WC - See the small write-up below

So call up those babysitters, make arrangements, bring all your friends along...but whatever you do, dont miss this!

Good morning All,

I very recently became aware of a fairly large number of primary school children who still go to school bare feet or with broken shoes. On the spur of the moment I decided that I want to help and make a difference.

My aim was to collect 250 pairs of school shoes by the 15th of July when the school reopened. By just sending messages to my contacts and them spreading the word, I collected 99 pairs of new school shoes and received donations to buy 10 pairs of new school shoes in 3 weeks. I didn’t reach my target of 250 pairs of shoes but 109 pairs of school shoes made a massive difference to 109 foundation phase kids.

Please note that I did not do this on my own. Most of these shoes were bought, money donated by kind hearted souls who wanted to pay it forward. Kind people who could imagine what it would feel like to walk to school on these extremely cold mornings, bare feet or with broken shoes. Thank you once again to each and every one!

In the meantime, word of the project has spread and I received numerous requests from primary schools with little ones who braves the cold and wet conditions with “barely there” shoes. Shoes with open fronts, shoes with big toes peeking out, shoes with half soles, shoes with holes in the soles that are bigger than R5 coins. Others have no school shoes at all.

Now I come to you to ask, PLEASE HELP ME TO HELP THESE LITTLE ONES. Let’s give them the comfort, warmth and dignity of a pair of new school shoes.
