 and once more the bandwagon starts rolling again...

Look, I have been on this forum right from the get go and have seen it all, before this I was/still am on overseas forums like bimmerforums.com and e46fanatics.com. For the start of local car related forums in SA, Richard (Gez) started dtmpower.co.za then later dtmproductions.net and it was diverse with multiple different manufacturer South African gear heads getting together with one common goal, to have fun at events and respect each other's opinions because of the diversity. It was a great forum and well run considering the internet back then, Gez and his gymkhanas @wesbank and other places were quite famous so I and a few others on this forum go way back to those good old days. Unfortunately forum politics between Gez, Phaser, Tim and a few other moderators prompted him to shut it down, it was a big loss for local car forums especially the BMW guys as Gez was a BMW guy too, there was no photobucket back then and the site hosted the pictures, I and many others had all sorts of diy stuff on there that was lost forever.
I digress, I have seen this forum BMWFanatics grow from the get go being one of the first few members even on BMWFanatics 1, this is now BMWFanatics 2, I usually sit back and observe when forum politics are involved as it usually ends in disaster, I have seen good forums fall because of it...I love this forum tremendously, its my homepage ffs! I don't want to see it go the same way others have so I need to stand up and say something before it does. I have seen good and bad members banned over the years for sometimes minor offences or not even offences at all, merely because the BMW bandwagon (a certain clique) do not/cannot respect that person's opinions, they instead ban them and make fun about it where there is a perfectly good warning system that will block the member for a month from posting. The banning system is flawed as it should go down to a vote amongst many and not just a case of one or two clique mods feel like it...We want the forum to grow guys, not shrink...If all the fanatics including staff could respect each other's opinions then we wouldn't be losing good members like we are...

Typically this will be deleted too being the truth, I just hope they leave it here for a little while...:nonono:

Its great that you have shared part of what truly sounds like an amazing line of forum history and I don't discredit any of your experience.Car Enthusiasts have surely grown since then with a range of qualities and personalities. So yes the forum should grow and yes it does sometimes get out of hand, but should be led by example as well. Your statement was not diplomatic, it was riddled with name calling of members on the very forum you call home.

So again I am not shooting you down, merely saying that you're right in most cases however your means to articulate what you feel had a very poor choice of words.

Agree with some points as well Gizmo.
However, this thread eventually became a thread taking a dig at nicbyte because he is a douche, simple!
It only took a turn for the worst when you commented

Agree with you Warren. Very valid points.
There is a difference between having fun and plain immaturity.

But also as Gav said above, a little tact goes along way. People may not interpret points the same way you mean it. Being a forum, hard to judge tone from just reading and this then results in misunderstandings and drama.
Just my 2c.

Isn't that the problem with forums 131Gav? Everything can be misinterpreted given their state of mind or that they have already made up their mind about that person?

I do agree and the freedom of speech these platforms bring - This problem will always exist unless explicit rules are set regarding conduct and every member on the administration team carries these out effectively and autonomously almost - no room for being subjective at all then (We're all human after all) ... Anyway thats like trying to solve world peace...

Lets depart from it now and hope that members try to respect each other a little more - it would be nice...

I agree he was a tool, but a warning 30day no posting "cooling off" period not good enough? Im not just talking about this guy, but others banned or ostracized in the past.

Not really, seeing as he came back here full of threats and shiznit.
Cannot comment on others, don't know what happened behind the scenes to judge

Anyone ever heard of Godwin's Law?

"As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1"— that is, if an online discussion (regardless of topic or scope) goes on long enough, sooner or later someone will compare someone or something to Hitler or Nazism."

There is a tradition in many groups that, once this occurs, that thread is over, and whoever mentioned the Nazis has automatically lost whatever argument was in progress.

"Dude, shut up. Nobody cares what you think."

"Oh, so now you're trying to censor me? Go to hell, you damn Nazi!"
