Oil on intercooler

hmmm possible boost leak?

Turbo problems.

Just a question. Is a boosst leak repairable and cost.
For example if u send the turbo for a service will that fix it.

Sweating can most of the times be fixed by tightening the clamp.
@Clifton: The location of the boost leak will determine the cost of the repair.
Yes a boost leak can cause an increase in consumption as you have to step harder on the fun pedal for the same performance.

is it normal to have oil in the intercooler ? or around the pipes.
i have noticed a increase in consumption around town.

As far as I know the intercooler fills with air only. So no oil should be in there.
I noticed some sweating on the pipe by the turbo. Hence my questions.

Will send turbo for a service as soon as I can.


A service will fix it right.

I have not checked the plumbing on my 530d for leaks/sweating yet, trying not to start tinkering. But on all my petrol turbo cars there have always been oil in the IC systems, the amount of oil should determine your next actions.
I would suggest that before you have a slightly worn turbo serviced/reckoned, you first get some professional advice from a reputable company.

So this weekend i decieded to clean the EGR valve and intercooler.
the egr was quite clean to my suprize so i just did the bypass mod.
i could'nt remove the intercooler but noticed just oil sweat around the lowest pipe.
what other preventitive maintanace can be done.
