Hi. I am new to this site, so please be patient with me.
I have a 2010 320i BMW. My wife phoned me and says that a light looking like a oil can that drips come on when the car is warm. Could you please try snd tell me what could be the problem as the car seems to be full of oil.
Next week she will be traveling from George to Cape Town and I don't want her to get stuck on the road.
Thank you very much.

They tend to use oil.

the warning normally look like this if it its low on oil. + 1L if someone can just confirm mean you need to top up with one liter of oil.

My 320i used oil too. If you don’t have any visible oil leaks, then topping up every couple of months is normal (depending on mileage). Valve stem seals could be going too.

If there is no smoke from exhaust either whilst driving I wouldn’t worry too much about getting it tended too immediately but likely it will be needed.

To check if it is that, get the vehicle to operating temperature, and then let it idle for about 5min, then give fulls revs. Smoke will blow out if it is the valve stems going/gone.
