I've got a whole back of clothing waiting. Buuuut it's all from me, so not quite their size, Woman and kids can share one garment. :fencelook:

Theres 6 men living in the Commune as well.....single fathers I believe.....
They will be assisting with the security of your cars whilst we're there..
Anything you have will help, they would be able to sell the clothes to raise funds.

Ok so here's the breakdown:

BACKGROUND
Compass is a non profit organisation which is currently caring for approximately 93 babies and children, aged between new born and 13 years that are often abused, abandoned, terminally ill, impoverished and previously disadvantaged.

With help from Compass and sponsors they create and provide food, security, education and a place of safety.

A nurturing and uplifting environment.

Currently it costs Compass R1200 per child to sustain that child for a period of three months.

HOW IT ALL STARTED
The founder of Compass Mr. Jude Martin struggled with alcoholism and drug addiction and after tragically losing his 4 year old son in a pool accident ended up living on the streets.

During this time he befriended a group of homeless children and through helping them find food and shelter he eventually turned his life around.

With only a hundred Rand and a cellphone a box on the conrer of the street he started what today is Compass.

Compass has recently opened their 4th home and are currently based in Edenvale, however people come from all around Johannesburg and surrounding cities for shelter, food and an opportunity to recover their dignity.

Whilst in Compass's care women are placed in two year training programmes that gives them the tools to find employment and get back on their feet.
Training includes childcare, computer skills and basic office administration.
Children are placed in school and given stable loving environments.

TRUE STORIES
A mother and her three children walked all the way from East London, she has been so badly abused that she lost all her front teeth and had a broken jaw, due to her appearance she was not able to find employment which made it impossible for her to look after herself and her three children, Keagan 2, Jo-anne 6 and Kiara 8.
With help from sponsorships Compass is trying to place the two older children in school and the mother is currently in the two year training programme.

Donovan is a young boy who has cerebral palsy, through sponsorship he now has a special wheelchair.

Lee-Anne who is 90% deaf in both ears has now, through sponsorships, two hearing aids. Both with speach and physiotherapy are starting to thrice.

GOALS
Compass is trying to establish a village which will eventually look after a 1000 abused and ill children, but costs are huge.

In the last 8 years Compass has nurtured and helped over 1200 women and children back into the mainstream of society, where they now in turn live productive and complete lives and complete and strengthen the socio economic cycle by becoming tax payers, who can now fend for their own children without the interference of abusive fathers and husbands........

So here is my plight to you Fanatics.....

13:30A short welcoming in the hall from both Compass as well as a Fanatics Representative

WHAT TO EXPECT
Firstly and somewhat more importantly there will be 8 Security Guards looking after your cars.
Entrance in and out of the facilities will be regulated.
Staff and members of Compass have agreed to help us out with the function.

Despite Carte Blanche having a little interest they can unfortunately not participate because it is a function, however;
Germiston Caxton Newspapers will be on site for the event as will
Tswane TV who will be doing a short programme on the event called "Out and About"..... so if you want your Pride and Joy on the Telly this is the place to be.
MetroFM are currently advertising the event on their Radio Station as we speak, this being done free of charge so big thumbs up to them.
Radio 5 however have requested a R5000 air fee....so if there's anyone out there that can help with that it would be highly appreciated.

Within the next 24 hours there will be an official website as will a Facebook page and a Twitter feed..... (details to follow)

The only thing we fell short of here was getting a hold of Speed and Sound who have currently moved office apparently and have proved until now illusive to get a hold of.
If anybody has influence here again I would highly appreciate it.

There will be Mobile Toilets on site, Fanatics will be treated to a VIP section in this regard....toilets being provided for by Liquid Sensation.

There will also be Paramedics on site for the duration of the meet, just in case.

FOOD
There will be a soup and coffee kitchen on site, manned by some of the women you will be helping on the day.
A Tea Garden, for those of you a little over the hill
There is an Italian Restaurant on site if youre really hungry....
however the local SPAR has agreed to provide bread rolls and boerewors for the day....
There will be a small watering hole on the site as well....for cooldrinks and the likes......

ENTERTAINMENT
Firstly the Children of Compass would wish to express their extreme gratitude for your help and will be performing two short dance recitals for your entertainment.....

There will be a mini flea market
Additionally to make your cars look good there will be 10 Promo Girls looking to have their pics taken....
MOVE Records have provided 2 DJ's for the day and Kilowatt have provided a stage......
ICON Nightclub in Sandton have also provided two DJ's for the event as well.

A stage for what you may ask...... well it turns out we will also be joined by Melissa Alison, runner up in the South African Idols....apparently she wishes to serenade you lot for a bit...

FOR THE LADIES
For those of you who are bringing your wives, girlfriends with you, Mangwanani will be there as well..... (dont worry I didnt know who they were either)
They will assist with facials...... this is not limited to women, CRASH youre welcome to give it a bash as well if you like.

FOR THE KIDS
For those who are bringing their kids with them,
We have Face Painting (naturally)
Hairspray
Jumping Castles
and Pedal Carts with a race track.......(almst had motorised carts for us lot but they were not able to assist on a weekend)

HERE'S WHAT THEY NEED
Top of the list obviously is cash.....
I will have the banking details in here within the next 24 hours which will be available to anyone at any stage for inspection.
(Was actually hoping there was someone in here who has accounting under the belt....)
Kindly note that Compass is a Non Profit Organisation and for any Companies who want the Tax Exemption Details for their records should they make a donation I will gladly provide you with all necessary documentation.

Compass is desperately in need of Blankets, especially now during the Winter Season.

Clothes, as stipulated earlier the kids range from new born to 13 years old so any warm clothes in this age group will be highly appreciated.
Please dont forget the mothers and hand full of men on the site who assist with the maintenance of the building whilst they are there.
Everything counts.

Nappies and Baby Milk..... there are several new born babies being cared for by Compass, this will be a great help.

Food, Compass have there own kitchen on site where everyone eats with facilities which can accommodate any food types, i.e meat etc.
If you have tinned foods lieing around that you havent eaten, chuck them in the boot of your car, everything helps.

TOYS.......self explanatory

There will be a bin on site where all these donations can be dropped and sorted out by Compass themselves.
Guys I am sincerely confident Compass is a transparent institution and we have no fears of person being singled out and benefited.
Our efforts here will help all of them.

HERES WHERE I NEED HELP

There are a few things I need to finalise everything and Im turning to you all for help in this regard.

So here what I need;
1. Is there anyone here who either works or knows someone that works at Greenstone Mall. I was wondering if they could arrange a specific portion of the parking area for our gathering before the convoy.
It would only be for an hour.

2. Im looking for Fanatic Banners for the Main Site to put up next to the cars..

3. Im looking for anyone who can donate coffee and soup for the kitchen on the day....... I have a feeling it will be nippy on the day....so need help with that if anyone can

4. Is their someone who can draft an advertisement for the event, I see KZN Event has a stunning one.

5. Does anyone no anyone who either works or sleeps with someone at the Speed and Sound Magazine that may be able to convince them to consider them shooting round for a few pics.......
We have some Promo Girls who are dieing to have their pics taken on the day and I know my car is pretty enough for the day......

6. Last thing on my list is I need the support.....we need donations guys...this has been a huge effort getting all of these things to come together....

CLOSING
This is the first time Ive ever organised something like this....
Lets give the KZN Boys a run for their money.... lets show them that the Gauteng Crew can step up and make an impact.....

7. I lied....one more thing, I need a Fanatics Representative who will be willing to do the official opening as a spokes person for the Forum.....Im assuming it would be one of the Moderators but I'm open to suggestions......
For those of you who didnt know Thunder is now currently the Events Rep...so be expecting a small chat at the Greenstone Get Together.
Thanks Everyone for listening.....

If anybody can think of something Ive missed.......now would be the time

Nice info posts Fraser.

As for some of the things needed.

1. Maybe pm Uber as if I remember he is a photographer for speed and sound.

2. I currently have 2 of the banners with me, and with permission from HerrBMW and Camzo(Camiel) I will keep them with me for the event.

3. If there is a mod on the day they will probably be the better bet to do the welcoming and so forth, but at the initial meet I`ll be happy to greet all the fanatics and so forth.

One question though. The account you are going to post is it their account or one created from our side to give them a cheque or something on the day?

I've arranged for them to create the Account.
We can arrange for one of thin big cheques to be handed over though.

I would just like to mention to all FANATICS, even though im a fairly new member to the club, that it is a privilege and honour to be part of such a awesome club, that actually go out their way to help needy people and for organizing such a wonderful event. It has been very professionally organized.
I take my hat off to you guys that organized this and will always support where-ever I can, and am very excited for this event.

OK

so this is starting to take shape nicely........but........

for those of us that would rather make a donation of gifts/items etc on the day itself towards the children, what are their needs w.r.t. clothing/blankets/food parcels/toiletries etc..?

the reason I ask this, is that I would feel empty and a bit of a show-off, if I arrive with police escort in a convoy etc etc all "show-off" in a gleaming BMW but my physical hands are empty and devoid of anything resembling a gift....if you know what I mean.
