Odometer & tripometer back light

Hi there, can I replace the odometer and trip-ometer back light myself or does it have to be done by a mechanic, keeping in mind that I hardly know what to loosen and where to check?:dunno: This is for an e36 98 model

your best bet is to google it and see if you capable of such a mod- if you don't feel comfortable with it, phone around and get quotes, maybe it wont be that expensive.
the problem with DIY is that you do need some knowledge of what is important, and it is a time consuming exercise, you don't want to get half way and realize its beyond you.

Look up Rick540's threads or PM him. He did a jobbie like that once (or twice). You need A LOT of patience though.
