Octane Boosting

Ive been told by the dealer that there will be some improvement in performance by riding a higher rated fuel or avgas. The e36 m3 at low revs high throttle will ping a little on 95.
Also remember just because its says 95 on the pump that doesnt mean its what your getting in your tank. Petrol station fuel is closer to 92.

Where did you hear that from ?

And to answer the question, in my E46 M3 octane booster didnt add much if any performance due to the fact that it wasnt pulling timing.

In my RS4 on the other hand it goes from pulling 9 degrees timing at 7500 rpm to 5 degrees when i use octane booster. Stupid, Stupid RS4.

I've also found it doesn't make a huge difference, maybe a bit more responsive. But don't worry your mind will make you believe its working good. Haha

The above is NOT true!
There may be the extremely rare unscrupulous dealer but essentially everytime you buy 95 you get +95 RON fuel.

Does anyone know whose website this is: http://www.fuelexpert.co.za
I am very interested in chatting with anyone affiliated with this site. Pity theres no contact number

But its a pretty well known fact that the fuel here is of poor quality. There was an article in car magazine a few years back that tested all the local fuel brands, and all were found out to be a few levels under the generic 95. Ill see if I can find it but that was a while ago.

I have tested, tol/xyl, NF, NF race. I actually lost power on the dyno.......

I tried 93 pump (Maybe it was in my head) But My E92 M3 felt stronger on 93 than on 95...........

My 2c

Whatever you read on that site, take it with a pinch of salt.

They were outed on the ST site, NF pretty much tried give it to DF in the butt, they were caught, same admins, same IP, same domain, same server etc.

The moment they (NF) caught on they took their "testing" off and it seems they changed their entire site.

If you want to speak to a fuel expert, try to get hold of leonleon one the ST site, this guy is a fountain of knowledge (he has some or other degree in something fancy related to petrol and all things in the earth - to lazy to go look), he'll tell you what you want to know.

Dyno proven on my M3 with raised compression to not make a difference up in JHB area as i reach my maximum power way before it pings , knocks or detonates! Octane will how ever help at the coast!
