Matt, as a point of interest, what is the part to part mixture you are using with your water meth setup? I apparently need to do this on mine if I wat to run a Bar on pump LRP.:thinker:

50/50 water meth... did a LOAD of reading on the various options but what it came down to eventually is that the 50/50 mix wont require upgrading of various lines and engine bits (pure meth is corrosive) and the gains achieved from higher meth levels weren't that major.

Thanks Matt.

If this works I should see +- 320Kw on the wheels in Jan. Cant wait :excited: Feel like a kid waiting for his giant sunday.

Hi Matt

SAVSPEED did the conversion and I have been back a couple of times again afterwards for bigger this and that's.

Was making close on 250kw on 0.7Bar with tiny injectors and no mix. They recently had one close on 340kw as far as I can remember with a similar setup to mine.
It is a whole lot of fun to drive, well not at the moment, that’s why Jan is looming.

Did you keep your aircon??

SAVSPEED has made some awesome power for sure... but from the work of theirs I've seen down here.. it just looks a little...er....dont want to be rude here.... amateurish.... sorry dude don't mean to be rude.. I'm sure the car must be AWESOME fun but I'd be keen to know what your daily drive-ability and reliability are like...

Hi Freerider

OK I will attempt to put some picks on but have no Idea how. Sorry, very new to chatting online. Could you perhaps send a short description on how to do this?

Matt

You’re quite right. Sav is no Pier Neef but rather a Michael Angelo The mechanical work is absolutely stunning. The car has so far, in 110 000km of being charged, only broken 3 things. The clutch after +- 90 000KM, a CV joint and a Turbo shaft(Replaced complete turbo with a T66).

The daily drive-ability had 2 quirks. The clutch was a monster to get used to when not launching hard (I drive Johannesburg traffic every day) and the idle for 3 minutes after you have given it a good run.

Yes I needed to give up the aircon :bawling:

The car is resting at the moment as in my attempt to get more out of the current injectors I put the pressure up to around 6bar witch worked for a while but now they have collapsed. I am now waiting for the new ones from the states. Also upgrading the fuel pump and fuel management system.

After all that the dress-up phase will start.

Thanks
Leon

The clock ticks to the 20th of Jan.

Thanks

Ok - ok - before i get flamed :bawling:

Some important points mentioned in the thread and - some learning points for me ... although i am still not converted on mods :mmm:

One thing i must say - quite contraversial on the 3 points difference - 3 points is a very big difference... if you feel this is what you are getting at a service station or company - it should be reported - SAPIA could be a place to start or you can also report this to the oil company - they are obliged to investigate and report... the fuel companies certify and test all products that leave their site - they also retain samples of all batches produced/tested. They can get into big touble for not adhering - the spec is 95.0 - most companies produce to 95.2 to prevent testing inaccuracies (repeatability issues).

Thanks for the active discussion - mike/matt and thanks for the teachings... wow- you guys have a lot of spare time on your hands :)

OKay so the general conclusion would be that octane boosters are okay ?

I have a friend that drives a 2007 Renault Megane 2l Sport (turbo) ,he fills his car up with unleaded 95 and add a octane booster that raises the ocate up to 101 .He suggested that I use a similar booster that would up my octane to 97/98 (NF Street Octane Booster).I currently use Unleaded 93 (for no particular reason) but I am now considering using 95 after reading my car (99 540i) manual. They recommend 98 for my car (for better performance and fuel consumption) so now I'm wondering if I should go that route and give it a try. Will the booster not harm the engine in any way ?

You should try and run the highest pump octane available at all times.

Check that the octane booster you want to use is SABS approved and you shouldnt have a problem, I know that the liquimoly one is TUV approved, and it definitely makes a difference. Dont overdose.
