Hi guys
Just want to know if my car will work fine if I remove the OBC unit?
Also if I had to remove it,what will I need to do? Can I just unplug and remove?

Try it, it should be ok.

The only problem you may encounter is speed sensitive things like wipers, and GAL (Speed sensitive radio volume) might stop working but it totally depends on how the car is wired.

Its an e36 328i and the OBC is an 18 button unit

The reason I'm doing it is cos I found a screen that will fit perfectly into that spacing

99% chance that you will be able to remove it no problems....

Is that where the new boost gauge is going ?

Damn you bladdy agent, how did you do that?

Dude seriously get more sex or something, it's just the internet lol.

If something goes wrong like blown globe or low coolant or washer fluid you will not know. If you're lucky the yellow flashing check light on the dash will still flash for a while.

He does it by taking threads like this & completely taking it off topic!!!

and all the nonsense posts, or sarcastic comments :)

But mostly its the DIY & help full posts

I am getting there with my posts :).. Something like 6.7 posts per day...

I would imagine if there was no BMWFanatics forum I would be getting distinctions in my studies..

anyway, back to topic.

Would it not be possible to remove the OBC & fit it somewhere else??

The OBC serves no functional purpose to me as it shows incorrect readings,so I'm not really keen on having it intstalled anywhere else

There are no issues have done it, if its misreading and you never use it then just remove it, however if there is an issue the check control light will light up in the dashboard (orange not so serious red if its serious e.g. all the brakes lights are out or the brake switch is not working) but just won’t know what the issue is but it’s usually a washer fluid, coolant or one of the lights or brake light switch warning which you could easily check.
