Number plates? What do you think?

:dunno:
I am currently busy fixing the small issues\problems on the E34 and the front were in line because the sponge like spacer behind the front plate has some metal on the inside which is totally rusted. Wanted to replace it but after my Rhodesian Ridgeback (21 weeks old) has deciced to chew it for me.

Now I am faced with a decision of the number plate direct on the bumper or first put the old holder on. I have perspex plates.

What do you think and if no holder, do I use double sided tape or is there something better?

My black backing on the back plate is loose in the middle as well, it also has a number plate holder which blocks the lights on to the plate in any case.

Lose the number plate holders, make up a set of the longer plates and apply with double sided tape. End result will be a much cleaner fresher look for your car...

Hi, I used Mirror tape from the spares shop. Its the white type.
The black type is very thin and I found it not to be suitable.
I bought a complete roll - which last you quite a bit and you can find 101 uses for it around the house.
You just need to clean everything very thoroughly before you apply.
Use plenty of tape all round with some strips in the middle.

number plate holders FTL

velcro tape works wonders :pimp:

fixed! :)

Velcro tape sounds like a great idea, especially for the photo shoots, just pull the plates off and no need for blank out on the photo.

I removed the number plate holders, both front and rear on my e34. Makes a big difference.

NO Nails double sided tape, sticks anything and everything, I have it on my number plates and my rear CF spoiler

Its a red tape but when you remove the red its a transparent tape, you can get it from Builders warehouse

Say no to double sided tape. Use velcro strips so you can remove them for some late night naughtiness... (Or some high speed breakfast runs)

That no more nails stuff is the best double sided tape you can get... It sticks very well and removes very cleanly if you ever need to get it off

Yeah and if you get caught speeding without number plates and valcro strips on your car you will be keeping Baba company for the night.

Remove the holder, and then get some screws and screw it onto the bumper.
Remember, if you get caught with no numberplate, like in you removed 1, then its a R500 fine,
you remove both, thats an arrest for defeating the means of justice.

Don't want to have some fines or arrest, just want to make the car nice. The velcro is only to use for photo shoots and not to go make kak on the roads. I stick to the speed limits these days, I used to drive over the limits but not anymore.

Its quite easy to find valcro in road blocks if you unlucky enough to get someone who checks a fastener with a T end will not be that easy to find if you want to make it removerable... If I were you I would rather just presstic a piece of card over the plate for photos... I'm sure you can be booked for defeating the ends of justice for having a removable number plate...
