The airbag deploys when an impact compresses certain parts of the body, beyond a point in the structure. It does not work on impact forces alone.

That's nasty! Well, damage doesn't look too bad - suspension fine, not damaged from the shunt? Tricky to see with the wheel arch cover that is all mangled...

This is what insurance is for, it seems these days cars are written off way too quickly!

Luckily it's not written off.
The car was taken to Autobahn in Isando and repairs should start by tomorrow.
As I was told, nothing mechanical damaged on the car, not that it really makes me feel better.

Just hope that all is done professionally and swiftly, haven't had experience with this kind off thing before.

I can advise you, don't rush them. The more you rush them, the more sloppy job you will end up with.
Check everything b4 u accept your vehicle back.
You need any more advice when it comes to panel beaters, pm me.

Repairs does not look that bad.

Luckily, the E90, because its largely locally manufactured, is fairly decent with their pricing, I purchased a new fender for an E90 the other day for about R900 from the agents, had this of been a 7 series or something, then the car would have been a write off.

Give me a shout if I can provide you with some advice.
