Hi guys,

Just thought I'd introduce myself here before I start posting. Name's Terence, I own a JCW Clubman (wifes daily drive) and found your forum to do some digging on what I've now identified as "super knocking". Been having quite a few problems with the car since getting her on 1000kms, on just over 10000kms now and turbo replaced twice with a couple of extra visits to the shop.

Found some very interesting info just reading through old threads and hope to learn more.

Welcome to the forum!

The super knocking issue sounds like a common problem with these cars, the Peugeots experience it aswell from what I've gathered.

Thanks guys, do love the BMW's too, lovely cars you two own there.

I'm very happy with the service I get from Glen @ Alpina Boksburg, he seems to think this super knocking is a common problem with the Mini's that aren't driven enough or sit most of the time rather than is being a fueling problem. I have only used 95 from day 1 with many a bottle of OB and injector cleaner yet I still had problems with it.

3rd turbo down and the knocking does not seem to be there but she seems abit low on power, especially up top at higher revs. Is there a sort of "run in" period for new turbos?

Hi Terence,

Welcome!

You can check this thread, don't know if you have seen it yet.

I also have the same problem on my S. Bottle of Octane Boost goes in with every tank. Doesn't work.

Sidenote: Glen and Ian at Alpina Boksburg are great! Never had anything but great service from them.

Oh and I drive my Mini every day, put on nearly 20k kms in 8 1/2 months

Welcome, awesome car! The JCW Clubman is rare as hell! I know the General Manager for MINI SA (Karin Valle) got the first one in the country and it had to be specially ordered as they refused to give us allocation at first. :joy:

Try Chatting to Neven he is on this forum he had the exact same issue with his Cooper S, the car has been in many times and is still knocking.

Hope you get sorted

Jarryd, thanks man, first thread I saw when I logged on, very helpful.

Minimike, much appreciated, she is an awesome little car and goes like stink. My wife's dream car and it won't be going anywhere for a long time!

Sendhur, what up man? Had a feeling I'd spot some of the old Renault boys here. Think I've seen Neven's posts as well thanks man.

Welcome Bro! That's one hot JCW!!!

PS: I managed to resolve my Knocking issue just by changing my fuel to VPower. I only use VPower and the Knocking has gone away.

Hi Terence.
If you own a blue Cleo you sir are a twat!

Welcome to the club nonetheless! hope you come right with that "super knocking". I had a super knock once, but I am not allowed to talk about it on a public forum. :fencelook:

Hi,

It's Clio*, and I'm guessing every guy that drives a blue "cleo" is a twat? Amazing.

Thanks guys, really enjoying reading through the forum, love the BMW's!

@Hotchoc, I think it may be more of a case with sticking to a certain brand of 95 rather than saying Shell only. I fill my Clio and ex Meg up with all the brands I trusted (only certain stations though) Total, Sasol, Engen and Caltex even, never had a days issue. Will do some testing though and tell the wife to only use Shell for the moment + plenty OB. :=):

Although like I say, haven't felt the knocking since the latest turbo replacement.

Ahh yes, an oversight on my part. Could be worse, I could have called it a Twango. Ha! Ha! :roflol: that's like somebody has a Twingo but speaks as though they have a hot potato in their mouth.
Dude, it's Devon, just by the way. Chop!

Ahaha, how did I start thinking it was you?! Dammit:nonono:

Whats up man? Looked through your posts now and saw silver 125i, thought you were rolling a white 135i? Confusion all round.

Spose I have to watch what I say around here now, things like "twat" are well out of order.:roflol:
