Hi Guys im wondering if anyone could assist me, im currently driving the bmw F20 2014 model, and after getting my timing chain replaced the turbo is not boosting any more, could there be something my mechanic missed? is there any software that needs to be done? im just very lost at the moment. im even considering taking it to the dealer but that will cost me an arm and a leg so im trying to avoid that as much as possible.

Hi,

What model F20 is it? 116i, 118i, 120i, 120d, M135i?

If your turbo is not boosting anymore from a timing chain replacement, it could be many things. Is the turbo still spooling but you not getting any power?

More than likely forgot to plug something in... Although I'm curious to know how you found out that there is no boost.. Did you hook up a boost gauge or run logs on the car? What has your mechanic advised regarding the way forward?

Limp mode in these feel a lot like a turbo car that suddenly has no boost...

Are there any messages on the dash?

Hi Guys thanks for the assistance the culprits were my catalytic converter and the boost pressure sensor replaced both yesterday and doing testing today. funny thing is when i was running the diagnostic tool on the car it didn't pick up anything, no codes or faults at all. The model is 118i.

Great to know, please let us know how you got to that diagnosis...will help future peeps looking at the same problem/s.

Many a time, the hardware issues don't show themselves on the codes.

Common issue is the vacuum line from the vacuum pump to the vacuum reservoir is not reconnected. The vacuum reservoir sits on the engine cosmetic cover. One line in and other line out to the turbo wastegate.
