Nitrogen in tyres

Hi guys.

Just wanted to know if any of you have really seen the benefit of using nitrogen in their tyres?

Thanks.

Air is 79% Nitrogen anyway. The advantages is the Nitrogen contains no moisture and will keep your tires 0.1% or something silly cooler.

It's supposed to be better, I have used both with no noticable difference at all

What Rick says and it's the moisture that causes problems, not the actual air. In a F1 car it might make a difference, but for daily use, I don't think so.

Nitrogen in tire actually come from pit safety measures not performance advantage... they were using compressed air that was a fire hazard...

normal air is actually better for street use because its easy to get

true. I usually just take them off, and put black ones on.

Thanks for all the feedback guys.

Just thought that it might help with tyre life.

Your right foot will depict tyre life.:fencelook:

I think proper and frequent monitoring of tyre pressures will make the bigger difference, but I do feel that nitrogen does help keep tyre temperatures and pressures a bit more consistent, the main thing is that you vastly reduce the chances of moisture sitting in the tyre. Yes, professional racing tyres use nitrogen, and so does commercial and military aviation.

But, something to remember is that when your tyres are inflated with nitrogen, it is never going to be pure nitrogen since they would then have to fit the tyres onto the rims in a nitrogen filled room, good luck finding this in your local fitment centre, but you still limit the chance of moisture other than the natural current air humidity.

Tyres are porous which means that over time gas particles can and do escape and oxygen being less dense than nitrogen does escape quicker, so after time you do end up with mostly nitrogen - problem is that moisture is does not escape, so I understand it...

Then you wont like nitrogen in you tyres.

No real advantage. You just get the ugly green caps.
