Hi,

I've been wanting a "toy" for a long time now, something fun to drive enthausiaticaly. After a few test drives and viewings of various different cars within my budget (not all BMW), this one stood out well above the rest.

E36 328i
1998 model
Auto with sport mode
Cream leather interior
Boston Green metallic paint
229000kms

I love the green/cream combo. Had a 330i in the same combo that I really miss, so this is slightly nostalgic. I must say the e36 auto box is better then I thought it would be, especially sport mode, it also has the snow/slippery condition setting. I have thought about a manual conversion, but I am not sure and this wouldn't be anytime soon. The car is 100% stock except for the e90 wheels. Good overall condition , engine sounds amazing and pulls nicely, suspension feels pretty good and is fun to drive, I just don't like the 205 run flats the previous owner put on.....on a side note the seats are in really good condition. Very happy with the car. I think I'm going to have a lot of fun with it.

Some ideas for the future may be:

-nice wheels/tyres
- Koni/H&R combo
-refresh suspension
-upgrade brakes (either good disks, pads, SS hoses, or bigger from another car)
-Sway bars
-M3 Diff
-K&N drop in filter
-M3 headers and exhaust (of custom exhaust)
-black seats
-manual conversion (maybe)
-maybe Stroker

How do these autos hold up on track days?

Thanks

Thanks all.
The reason I bought the car was to have something fun to drive on weekends, hence the idea of maybe changing a couple things.

But the idea of keeping it a good original car is also there.

I think if you do struts and springs/wheels/breather mods, it is still very close to original and easily reversable.

Regarding the auto boxes, I know these generally have a lifetime up until 150-200k kms. But aside from that lifespan, how is the general reliabiliy? And let's say I drive in sport mode a lot, how does that effect the box?

Also got some goodies btw
The plan is to first get The maintenance sorted:

So I have:

Plugs
Oil
Oil filter
Fuel filter
Engine flush

Getting k&n drop in next week

Then to follow:

Brakes

Cooling system

Tyres

Suspension refresh

Over time though as budget allows

This car looks beautiful.
Boston green was my favourite colour for the E36 and the beige leather works well with it.
I would not molest the car with too many mods.
It just looks so pristine and will be worth a lot to classic car buyers in the future.
I would suggest changing the rims to E36 spec.

I like the new ride, had a silver 98 328i auto as my first BMW. Still miss that car.

How many months until it's for sale?:smilebounce:

Do coil overs, OEM wheels and a M3 bumper before you do. ;)

JOM Blueline coilies not an option instead of the drop kit? Would be interested if anyone had tried that.

@zach
Hopefully many many months until it's for sale

@jm52

You can't even compare the koni h&r to Jom
They will be light years better
I think it will be best bang for buck compared to more expensive coilovers
