Next M3 Specs

Did some maths and based on the previous generations, the next M3 should make about 350KW and 450NM (at least). Yes, these are just projections, but makes for some interesting figures.

For the nerds among us, this is based on using the Excel trend function on the following table (please let me know if any historic figures are wrong):

Model Year Power (KW) Torque (NM)
E30 (2.3) 1986 145 240
E36 (3.0) 1992 210 320
E36 (3.2) 1995 228 340
E46 (3.2) 2001 252 365
E90 (4.0) 2007 309 400
F30 (x.x) 2013 351 453 (Projections only)

And here are the graphs also based on this table:

NB: This is purely an estimate based on historic numbers and with the current "BMW turbo trend", things may change.

If it is turbo'ed things will get interesting really quickly on the modified scene.

Next Generation M3 to go Tri-Turbo.

It’s been rumored before but now it would appear Auto Express has come close to actually confirming it. The tri-trubo is rumored to be a 3.3L engine that produces around 450 hp and over 400 ft lbs of torque. Obviously quite a bit different in characteristic than the current M3′s naturally aspirated V8. Now let’s take a look at what three turbos actually means.

According to Auto Express (who spoke with BMW’s M Division head, Dr Friedrich Nitschke) two turbos will be powered by exhaust gasses while the third will be powered via electricity. Along with a mix of light weight components this next generation M3 will be dramatically more efficiency than the current car or even it’s E46 predecessor.

i predict they going to put a 4 cylinder in the front with 2 turbos, and a 4 cylinder in the back with 1 turbo.
:biglol:

who's next?

I personally feel the ///M models are all about raw power with high revs and adding a turbo to an ///M car will kill this legacy.

I fear it will get "worse" if yu know what i mean if all BMW are doing are making their cars more "efficient and economical and family safe"
Those are all important factors yes but they are putting less and less of the main ingredient (Raw animalistic behaviour)
