Hi guys,

I'm interested in a e46 328 wich I saw on the gum, it's a 2000 model going for R50 000 it has 200 000km's on it,
any info on what to look out for would be apreciated as well as running costs and fuel usage.

Thank you in advance

Go check if there may be cracks on the rear subframe. Big problem on the 328i's. Had to re-enforce mine with plates. Whole job cost around R7000. My car has 225 000km on it. Still going strong. With a car with such high mileage one should just remember to do regular checks, check for the overall condition. Otherwise its definately one of the most fun e46's to own and drive. My fuel consumption on highway is 8.0l/100km. In and between town you looking at 11.0l/100km. Hope this helps. Just shout if you have any more questions

you need to budget for overhauling the cooling system and replacing random suspension rubbers... i would rather get a good condition 323i than a sketchy 328i...

but it all depends on how much work/money you want to put into it...
the 323i and the 325i are almost the same engine and with an exhaust and chip the yield the same sort of power...
the 328i is awesome because it has more torque but it does not seem to respond as well to tuning...

with any 6cyl pre F/L you will get a rear subframe rip unless you drive like miss daisy, but i think its something you will easily fix from the work ive seen on your other cars :)

I've got a '99 model 328i with 260 000km's on it, cooling system was overhauled by previous owner. Rear sub-frame hasn't been an issue yet but there is a separate savings account in place for in case :mmm:

As Chris said fuel consumption isn't too bad depending on weight of foot :hammerhead: :)

Other than that, never had any hassles with it apart from general wear and tear in my 1 year of ownership

Never had a dull day with mine, brings a smile to my face with every turn of the key :thumb:

i have 99' 328i 139000km i almost have it 4years now and apart from the discs warping and lower control arm bushes that i had to replace and sunroof cover failing and driver side front window clip that broke i didint have 2 much problems with it and that was the only major stuff apart from a brake light bulb and all of them was a easy fix.
I had it in for a service at bmw dealer about 4000km back and it only cost R1600 ok it was a inspection just oil change an filters . things u have 2 check for is the water pump has it been replaced they have a nasty habit of just failing spiling all the cooling fluid also so try and find out about that one if it was done find out when if it faild mabe the car over heated and yea check that rear subframe like (cris) said also sumtimes the central locking goes mad
