Peeps,

Need your expert advice and guidance...

I'm looking to purchase a 2011 E90 320d 180000kms, very well looked after however Service History is proving to be an issue to locate as the previous owner last serviced the car with BMW at 97000kms.

New tyres, interior and exterior looks very clean so i'm guessing the guy would have kept the service up to date, looking for your guidance on what to look out for and if I do purchase it, cost to maintain and what issues am I in for.

Is it a bad deal to go for, Dealer reckons it will go for the DEKRA check?

Thanks
G

Difficult one...I now about a lot of people whow service there vechile themselves after warranty period because they don't trust just any body with there babies. In general you can see by the condition of the car if was well looked after or not...but there's no guarantee even with a full service history

I am guessing the dealer is not willing to follow up with the previous owner to get the service history. I would be worried as theres so many stories about cars that have full service history and still have sludge issues, dirty filters etc. One can only imagine what cars with no service history 'could' look like.

True, but in this case you, as the owner will at least keep a record of some type as to what services were done. Invoices, still indicate in the service book what was done, when etc.

These cars have proven to be quite reliable, if you service it according to what is required. If the dealer is unwilling/unable to assist, and if there is no record what so ever, I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole - even if it "looks good".

The last thing you want is a money pit... I would stay clear unless you can get some sort of assurance that the required services have been carried out

IMO if you cannot prove that the services have been done, it may result in problems down the line. The main thing is to have piece of mind that the vehicle has been looked after by proper and timely servicing.
