New xenon bulbs (real ones :) )

So yesterday afternoon when I got back from work the new xenon bulbs that I had ordered a while ago had arrived.
Colour temperature: 8000K

Just the xenons on:

This is how the xenon bulbs compare to xenon-look halogen bulbs (in the fog-lamps):

Before anyone says anything about light output being low on 8000K bulbs this is what the light output looks like:
DSCN0716.jpg

The output is maybe 10% less than that of the 4300K ones I had in before these. These bulbs also compare very well with Philips Ultinon xenon bulbs.

And a final close-up:

Yeah these bulbs are totally awesome!:)

I bought myself a set of 6000k bulbs and WOW they totally compare and improve on the set of philips ultinon bulbs I had previously! :thumb:

These xenon bulbs? Are they just the bulbs or the entire HID kit? If it is just the bulbs, where can I buy it and how much?

What is the perfect setup 4 my E36?
I want a 55w 8000k kit.

These bulbs are for OEM xenons ONLY! This is not some cheap ass HID kit in the headlights it is simply a higher temperature D2s replacement bulb for the stock xenon headlights:cursin:

The perfect setup for you E36 would be some nightbreakers seeing that the car came stock with halogens so keep it that way or do the entire xenon internals swap. (which Gizmo can do). Don't get a 55w xenon kit you are going to blind all oncoming traffic and these are illegal in all developed countries for good reason.:banghead:

Looks good dude... FYI, the lower the temp the brighter, or so they say...

The higher temp bulbs give you a specific colour you're looking for. I know BMW uses the (Could be wrong here) 4000k/6000k as there Xenons when you buy the option. Hence the very slight tinge of yellow once they have heated up...

I know that, which is why I tried to address the issue of light output in the first post before anyone goes and says: you can't use 8000K's the light output sucks etc. Which is the reason why I also compared these with the ultinon bulbs which probably some of the best xenon bulbs you are likely to find (at almost ten times the price).

OEM xenon bulbs start off at around 4300K and then colour shift to around 5000'ish K if I am not mistaken.

Actually BMW uses a 4300k on all models which uses a D2s type bulb and 5000k (more like 4800 but its marked 5000) on all models which uses the D1s type bulb:thumb:

@Andrew: Yeah that would obviously work but I know you're not going to do something stupid like put 55w Xenons in your E46 or something similar, I know you know how this stuff works.

@Sankekur: Depends on which OEM bulbs you are using, some colour shift and some don't.

85122 - Philips standard bulb. It starts at 4300K but after around 100hrs or so it color shifts (turns bluer) to around 5000K.

85122 + - Starts at 4300K just like the 85122, but STAYS at 4300K and does not color shift. This bulb remains yellower than a color shifted bulb. Note: some ebay sellers mention Limited Edition bulbs or that 85122+ are 5000K. BOTH of these statements are lies. First, there is NO LE bulb. Second, as I mentioned these bulbs start at 4300K and stay there.

Xenarc 66040 - According to data I have found, this bulb is 4300K with an output of 3210 lumens. Osrams often take a pinkish hue when they color-shift. Giving the bulb a different look than the Philips bulbs.

Xenarc 66240 - It appears this bulb is 4300K with an output of 3200 lumens. This bulb is a new generation replacement for the Xenarc 66040. It is unknown what if any functional differences exist between the two. Though structurally, the newer bulb now has the metal base support structure and no longer has the white cap over the base. Osrams often take a pinkish hue when they color-shift. Giving the bulb a different look than the Philips bulbs.

Ok, but I have projector lamps so I dont think I will be blinding any1. So u say da Cheap HID kits are crap??? It is what I can afford...
What will work best, 35w or 55w and 6000k or 8000k?

My personal opinion would be to rather go for the 35W as it is good enough, the colour temperature would depend the coour light you want, both 6000k and 8000k will be a blue'ish white with 8000k being a bit bluer and slightly reduced light output.

Thanks. But will the 55w not be brighter especially since I have the projector housing :dunno:

Yup the 55W will be brighter, but is will also be hotter so there is the possibility that it might damage your light housings etc, not to sure about this but I rather play it safe.

Seeing that my OEM halogens are 55w, will the 55w HID kit be hotter since the wattage is the same?
Pls excuse my ignorance wrt xenons...
