Well there might be an upside! If the parent was paying insurance on a 5l performance car for a 25 year old, you can rest assured that the parent has money, maybe even enough to fix this disaster?

Sorry to hear about the damages to the car. It seems like a write-off if the insurance co is expected to fix the car.

Call me an old fart, but I think that Dad is starting to regret giving a M-car to a 25yr old youngster as a birthday gift. As a youngster many moons ago myself, I learned to have more respect for expensive things when I paid for them myself.
I really don't like comments like this
Not every youngster with a performance car is irresponsible and reckless.
I know plenty elderly gentlemen who are a lot more reckless and irresponsible, but I won't walk around saying all elderly guys are reckless and shouldn't own a performance car

Maybe not, but evidently, this one is. Also there is a reason automotive insurance is highest for males in their 20s.

Anecdotal evidence is best evidence

sorry, but that's the silliest reason ever to moderate a thread.
If it was a showroom thread, it's now a graveyard thread. RIP E39

This is the exact reason why I got banned last time.

Moderators interfering where they shouldn't. What is the point of deleting posts here?

And you were lucky to be let back on.

Don't tell the mods where they should and should not interfere. If things were done otherwise, you would be in line for a moderator position.

You are stirring and the owner of the car hasn't even posted his version of events yet.

Keep derailing/stirring and you'll be banned again.

Dejavu...

Why do you guys have an issue with people challenging your decisions? Life is full of people disagreeing with your opinions. If you cannot manage to deal with it, you will have a lot of disagreements...

The reason is in bold and red.

If you don't like how the forum deals with trolls and trolling, find another forum to troll on.

And you need to practice what you preach. You're unhappy with my disagreeing of your "opinion".

Facts remain - Eon took an underhanded Swipe at E63AMG's treatment and maintenance of the car, in an attempt to appropriate blame for failed repair on a 15-year-old car that's now had at the very least 4 owners

However, E63AMG never managed to park said car in a ditch / swamp... and the fact that Eon did so, is now suddenly protected under some secrecy act?

You can be miffy with me for saying so, but that seems hypocritical to me.

If you're going to apply standard "x" on moderating a response in a thread, you need to apply that standard to all replies in that thread.

You/the other mods have not done so. Not a difficult concept to grasp. stop being defensive, acknowledge that a double standard has been applied and rectify the issue in a fair manner.

If you're going to allow user x to take a swipe at previous owner y without first allowing previous owner y to respond/give his side of the story, moderating previous owner y's response once user x has binned the car is simply petty and hypocritical

This attitude from mods is exactly why moderation issues keep cropping up on this forum time and time again despite promises of transparency and change.

And? So your argument here is that no-one should post anything unless the thread starter authorizes it?

Guys, you don't know the reason for the car being in a ditch. Everyone obviously assumes the owner lost control and ended up in a ditch, but why not chill until you find out for sure
