Hi all, and thanks to who ever runs the site, as hopefully there's an enthusiast out there that can assist me with the problem i'm experiencing with my 2007 X5 3.0D?

Recently, i had an aftermarket tow bar fitted, by TowbarSA in Durban, as the BMW installation was 4times more expensive. Unfortunately, ever since the installation, i've had a problem with the boot close assist, as well as the continuous beep indication that my boot is open.

Can anyone assist in giving me some direction with this, as i think it's going to be a bit late in trying to take it back after 3 months of agony...

Thanks again!

Brandon

Hey Brandon, welcome to the forum!

Maybe on installation they damaged some of the wiring going to the rear of your car, and now it's starting to 'show'. Or maybe it's only normal 'wear & tear' , difficult to say.

Best advise is to have it checked out, I would say take it to the agents and have them look at it and give you a quote on the problem, then at least you know what's causing it, you can always have it repaired some place else. :=):

Or some trustworthy BMW shops in your area?

Good luck and let us know if you found the problem what it was!

I had my towbar fitted on my X3 a month or so ago and the car had to be (programmed) after the fitment. Perhaps this was not done by the workshop that did yours.

These guys are both right, those guys that did the install could have done something wrong or just missed something that was supposed to be done.

One of the draw backs of driving fully computerized cars.
Hope you get it sorted dude.

Welcome Brandon.

I think let the dealer have a look and let you know what is up. As the guys above have posted, they could have nicked a wire or done something that the car electronics do not agree with.

Hope all goes well!
