Thanks, I posted in the general section about advice on buying a 318i E46 2002, so any advice greatly appreciated
Not sure where it went but this is my post.
Just seeking advice on buying a E46 318i. I had a look at one this evening and not knowing anything about BMW, (one reason I joined),
Mileage 227000,
Few things I wasn't sure about, when changing gears I hear a thud, no whining noise at all, is this normal, if not what could the possibilities be and what would an estimate price be to repair?
The back doors where the rubbers would seal up against, there is a metal piece that runs front to back, its as if the rear last pieces are missing, again price?
Fog Lamps don't seem to be work but the light on the dash comes on, might be globes but could be more.
The headlight adjuster only the one side moves up and down.
Also engine wise the car is smooth when driving, however where the little half moon goes on the top there seems to be oil but old oil, also the oil pan has a bit on it at the bottom.
Also noticed after my test drive, the noise coming from the rear was as if something was vibrating when idling not sure if that has anything to do with the gear change thud but the trailer plug was loose and rubbing against the tank (not sure if that is the vibration noise)
Overall I am happy to repair if it means having a solid running car, however if its too much, I'll continue looking for a cleaner one
