Is the 3.0 D nota better buy? I was told by a salesman at Toyota when buying my Hilux that the 2.5 is a donkey and heavy on fuel.

:nonono: Ay bru, the man bought a 2.5d and they are actually very good engines, no need to say what you did which is what some retarded salesman told you because he wanted you to buy a 3.0d.

The Power out put is the same at 106kw, its all in the torque, the toyota 2.5d4d has the same torque figures as the 3.0d4d. 340nm odd, that's the major difference. and its by no means a slouch.... does 140-150 with ease, where as the Navara was a little lazy, also think that the gear box makes a difference, as the Navara was 6 forward and toyota is 5 forward.

No Stress, That Salesman wants to make more money on you :biglol: on a serious note the 2.5d4d hilux is a donkey, not sure why, but it does not move like a fortuner 2.5d4d...

I intially though myself that it will be like the Navara, but boy was I wrong,

Like i said earlier in my post to Gareth, the 2.5d4d has the same torque as the 3.0d4d, you have to drive it to feel the difference, that low end torque is amazing...

Also my fuel consumption showing on the obc is sitting at 7.6l/100km town driving which is great for dragging 2.5tons around

Experienced exactly the same thing in the process of the purchase 4 months ago, looked at both 2014 Tuna 3.0 D4D (120kw) and 2.5D4D (106kw) auto's. The drive and power on 2,5 D4D felt exactly the same as the 3.0, strangely enough. You wont even miss that 14kw .

Plug a Dieseltorque pnp and pedal box , and you will be extremely pleased :rollsmile:

Just as a matter of interest the Navara YD25 engine has a lot of different specifications varying in power and torque output depending on the application (even in the Hardbody).
There's 3 different versions in the Navara 106kw, 125kw and 140kw.
I agree the 106 kw does not drive that great and low gears are all wrong but just do yourself a favour and drive the 140 kw version and you will see how much of a donkey even the 3.0D4D Toyota is.

Congrats on the new purchase, hope you enjoy the car it has great space.
