Hi All

I would like to introduce myself, if I may, and am pleased to join your BMW Fanatics forum. I live in PE and took delivery of new F30 320i MSport Auto in December last year and last week received my 2013 plates...

This is, for me, my very first "toe-dipping" in BMW and - so far - have been very impressed. We enjoyed two (exciting) holiday trips in the unregistered car! One to Port Alfred and one to Nature's Valley (just before Plett) and I found it to be a great cruiser.

I am a little concerned about its fuel consumption and have spent a bit of time this afternoon checking the web for "real life" figures, as after 2153km, mine is averaging 9.79l/100km... Not great at all, considering CAR Magazine (SA) reckons their estimate of 6.9l/100km is accurate. I seem to be driving it in ECO Pro Mode the most of the time, too...

Prior to my defection, I thoroughly enjoyed my 2007 C200 Kompressor (W204) Auto AMG Pack, which I had for over 5 years. I bought it new - was the first in PE to get the then new C-Class in AMG Pack - and mine was Obsidian (metallic) Black. I guess my Alpine White F30 320i is the complete opposite? Before my C200 Kompressor, I was fortunate enough to be blessed with my 2002 C230 Kompressor Sports Coupe Auto. Both my previous Mercs were the "newer" 1.8 litre engines.

Attached is a pic of my new baby, together with boet's 2012 320d on holiday over December.

By the way, drove down from Jozi to PE with my boet, my dad and my son in his 320d. We averaged 134km/h and consumption was only 5.9l/100km...

Later Guys and I hope to hear from some of you!

Sorry, I forgot the pics - I think!

Still trying to figure out the forum...

Congrats! :bravo:

Your fuel consumption will go down when your car is propperly run in.
Everything is still a bit rough in engine and gearbox so give it some time say between your 5000km and 8000km mark all should be settled

Thanks for your advice, Rolf - I shall keep you posted after 5000km... By the way, I found your comments and information on "chipping / tuning" a 320i to perform like the 328i very interesting. Thanks for that!

Thank you, James - appreciate it!

Wow, great intro. Nice pix too. The fuel consumption too me looks acceptabe. The car is still brand new and needs to adapt, settle etc...i agree the 5000 Km range should settle the beast.

Enjoy :joy:

Thanks for your reply, Twinz - much appreciated. Looking forward to crossing the 5000km threshold and then checking my consumption. Cheers Bud!

Welcome home bud. I too have had very poor figures in my F30, but I must admit I don't do Eco Pro and I have a heavy foot. My consumption is 12.9l/100km 90% town driving and currently around 2300km.

Thank you, My Bud - appreciate it.

Thanks, DeoJor. Yup, I hear you on the Eco Pro - it has been very difficult for me to keep it there... Eina - 12.9l/100km is heavy, Bud!
Great taste in cars, tough!
