Hello fellow Mini fans

I have just recently joined the ranks of mini owners with my 2006 Mini Cooper S!
I have a few questions First my mini has the chrome wing mirrors and scoop is it
Safe to paint these parts or is it just better to find replacment parts if so where?
And Secondly I have notcied my clutch has a very faint squeel in the begining? Is this serious and do I have to change the clutch soon?

Looking forward to visiting this forum offen for other tips and such thanks!

I think you can just find replacements for those parts, not sure how it will be if you paint, I've seen many replacements but all was online that has to be imported.

Post pix of your car, I would love to see it  I'm in the market for one, 2004 - 2006

Heya matie!

No need to find replacements a good panel beater will be able to treat and respray those for you any color you like. Its all about the prep.

Noticed that you're in the East Rand. Pop into the Dent Doctor (opposite the East Rand mall, near the Merc end). There's a guy there called Leonard, who will be able to give you the best advice on what your options are for sorting out those mirrors and scoop  His work comes highly recommended on this forum.

Just make sure Leonard uses a High Temp paint for the scoop as the turbo on your MINI is about 6 cm below that scoop and on a good run the entire turbo goes blood red.

I have noticed that often the scoop discolours over time and usually saw this on used cars where owners had changed the colour or had the scoop resprayed.

Actually nevermind, I see the car is a 2006 model so there isnt a turbo... Nevermind!

Hey man,

In terms of the scoop, a possible option would b to wrap it. As for the clutch, sounds like ur thrust bearing is going for a loop. Happened to me bout 3 months ago. Except mine eventually failed. Changed the clutch on my own and is now running like a dream
