I own a 1998 Z3 1.9, 2000 BMW Z3 2.5, with sport suspension package, a 2003 BMW e85Z4 , 2.5 - with issues, and a BMW 330ci with upgraded engine and suspension, it had M decals, but the serial number says not an M., I recently sold my green 2000 Z3 2.5 5 speed manual so my wife could have a Subaru Outback.
I live in the mountains of SoCal and the 10 ft of snow broke both side mirrors off the car. so I bought two eBay mirror assemblies, thinking that would fix it, but nooooo. The left mirror would actuate up, down, and back, but not forward. The passenger mirror blew the 5 amp fuse. darn it. I hooked up my old harnesses and that solved that issue, but the forward actuation mystery remained. I disconnected the pass mirror harness and the drivers side mirror started working as advertised. I thought i had switched the right and left motors, so off they came. looking at the motors didn't help. the odd ball motor had40219 #3899 which didn't result in any logical Googling. That one came with the right H eBay mirror assembly. I downloaded the model specific wiring diagrams and am working through the pin and color research. wish me luck.
