Hi guys,
Let me get straight to the point... :skit:
So lately been having issues cold starting my Mini Cooper S (N14).
Refused to believe it was the HPFP (Even though its never been replaced).
So I replaced the following;
So eventually, stuck on obd reader, checked fuel pressure setpoint compared to actual pressure, and yeah, it wasn't hitting that 5bar at all. It was around 0.8 > 2bar on start up, revved few times eventually the pressure reached what it needed to be. So I did some reading up and apparently it could be the o-rings on the fuel "volume control valve" because apparently those o-rings breakdown and overnight allowed fuel back towards the tank side and looses its pressure in the line between the HPFP and the injector rail? (true or not? no idea) So, what the heck, replaced the o-rings (R20 only) and tested it. Started up perfectly cold start next day.. Let it sit again another night, and next day it battled once again. So, I left it since last week Wednesday, started it up today (5 days later) and voila, started up perfectly. So I really have no idea. Going to test it this whole week every morning cold start and see how it goes..
Otherwise, Mini wants to charge me R20,000.00 for a new pump (AND THEY WANT TO EXCHANGE IT FOR MY CURRENT ONE?). I've looked on e-bay and all are around 9-10k including shipping. I managed to get a discount from Mini but they only willing to knock off R7k from the actual price. I know I buy a luxury car, I must pay luxury... But is there any chance that anyone knows a contact or who can help a fellow Mini owner out here for a replacement that is working? I have only around a R4.5k budget..
Here is the video to what the vehicle does on cold start. Dash ! mark is from door being open.
