New car, opinions?

Tell me what you guys think. Bmw said it was at a whole sale price. The guy couldn't really tell me if it was a M-sport or if it just had the sports pack on

I asked for the VIN number but he had left work again so I will check it out today.

I will be seeing the guys of promotec soon for a little SW update, he said it shouldnt effect the warranty.

Which is something i need an opinion on, we have the option of extending the motor plan by a year, so i guess to 2014 feb. Or we have the option of a 2 year or 60 000kms warranty from McCarthy which covers all mechanical faults.

The guy was trying to say that its not worth extending motor plan he said it will be between 6k - 10k or it was 10k - 16k (I couldn't hear him too well over the phone so I'm going to finalize everything tomorrow). I also dont know what the 2 year warranty costs but I assume it was pretty expensive since we're paying R165 000 to put it on the road with warrenty included..

I say rather leave it stock untill your MP expires. You dont want BMw to cancel it, unless you dont mind loosing your MP.

Should i take it somewhere to get looked over and will bmw replace anything that needs replacing? good idea or not?

You have enough mileage left - extending for one more year should be reasonably priced. Try to negotiate the extension as part of your deal, if its not too late.

It's not through bmw though, its from toyota in paarl :fencelook:

They are busy getting some scratches fixed and a small dent in the drivers side door.

They are also putting smash and grab 35% I think I might ask for 20%, which is the legal limit is it?

So the 2 year warranty on all mechanical parts is with them.

But it would be pointless to have both. Would I not be able to extend the motor plan with bmw for another 2 years? He said I could only extend it for another year... ?

You can extend motorplan for a year at a time so I think you should do that and then end of this year if you still have the option then go for another year.

Whats the M aerodynamics package?

And provisions for 6 cd changer? So its not there but there is wiring for it?

Also what does this mean? Preparation f tel.installation universal?

Looks like an excellent purchase on the face of it.

BUT take the one year MP and renew again if you need to. For a first time buy for such an expensive car MP is essential.

Ps...leave the software & exhaust mod. Enjoy your car. The 320d diesel has plenty of power as is.

Maybe after your first year of owining the car then decide about modding.

When things start to break on a diesel car its not fun such as the turbo or damper pulley...very expensive. First year trouble free ownership is so important if you want to fall in love with the BMW brand.

Just called bmw now they said its R7 000.98 for another year, the lady was quite specific with the 98cents . And the maximum the motorplan can run for is 7 years so she said I cannot extend it again thereafter.

I think I will just go with the warranty as that lasts for 2 years and 60 000kms so i can take the car to 130 000kms before it expires. And the guy said I can do software update and he's going to find out about the downpipe, but he said it shouldn't be a problem. And the 2 year warranty is only R5 000. Which will protect me on any mechanical failures.

I know it has plenty of power but I still want mooooooore power. I really wanted the 330d but this was just such a good price.

Motorplan is far superior to any aftermarket warranty. For your first year of ownership enjoy trouble free motoring and pay the 7k. If anything doesn't seem right to you then send it in to the dealer and milk them for everything, get as many parts replaced as possible so by the time motorplan expires you have a virtually trouble free runner.
The warranties have monetary limits on certain parts IIRC whereas motorplan fully covers you.
It will be worth taking the 7k knock now trust me.
When I extended motorplan on all my cars before I sold I basically sold a car with brand new parts, had them replace my diff, suspension, the works

I will see what the situation is when i take delivery of the car. But the thing is I only put about 15 000kms on my 320d last year so I wont even take the car out of motor plan by mileage and thats only 1 service. So cant i just take it to them now and get everything swapped out? How do i get them to do that? So i just tell them I want everything replaced ?
