New buyer of a E90 320d

Hi guys,

Just about to purchase my first ever Burn My Wallet, and was hoping you guys could shed some light on a few queries I have.

The car in question is an E90 facelift 320d, 2010 model with 95,000km on the clock. So it only has 5000km before it goes out of motorplan.

1.) I noticed that the compartments in the boot are empty. What should be in there? I know there is no spare wheel in the BMW, but surely those compartments aren't supposed to be empty?

2.) Are there any regular problems on this vehicle that I should look for?

3.) Once I've bought the car I would like to identify any issues there are before the 5000km is finished, and then get them sorted via motorplan before it expires. Is my logic in the circumstance a little optimistic? What are your views on this?

4.) The car does have some visual mods, and therefore I would like to know if it was a fanatics car before it was sold. Car registration is BS 14 GB GP, it is white with M-Sports pack and sunroof. Roof has been wrapped black, carbon fibre mirror covers, spoiler, and front splitters, as well as lamin-x on the headlights and tail lights. It also has black kidney grills and 18" BBS rims. If anyone knows this car can they please point me in the direction of a rides thread or any information about the cars modding history. Just want to check if any performance mods were carried out. The car sounds standard but the mods could have been removed.

The e90's was the first generation 3series, to come standard with runflats, so no sparewheel. The only compartment in the boot, that is usually not empty is the one on the right, it usually contains the service books and underneath it he "tools"

What "tools" are supposed to be there? Do you know?

I have heard they are pretty bulletproof and that is the main reason for me going for one. Plus the power gains you get from software alone but that's another story. ;-)

Price is R185,000-00. From the research I've done it seems to be around the norm. Your thoughts?

not really tools, but it has a screwdriver, the lock nut key, a small spanner, etc, and underneath that is the battery.

Not bad price at all, think that just gave me a benchmark, can advertise my car for R200k not negotiable.

I do see where you are coming from, but at the same time it's just a generalisation. I know lots of guys who mod there cars and look after them really, really well, so I suppose it is open to debate like you said.
