Hi Guys

I'm new to the forum and purchased a 2010 e90 320d M-sport a few months ago. I joined the forum to get some help in terms of advice and references to services etc. In time, if I can be of any help, I'd love to give back and form part of the community.

Let me also start off by listing a few things I need done, perhaps someone can point me in the right direction? Apologies in advance if this post is meant to go into a classifieds thread or something:hammerhead:

1) Front bumper fix and respray and rear bumper scuff repairs(or respray)
2) Interior trim swop, I have wooden trim and I'm looking for the silver trim if anyone is interested in swopping(not the carbon effect silver, the plain one)
3) Front suspension, just shocks, at a reasonable price
4) Proper detailing expert, someone who can clean, polish, wax, do ceramic coating and detail the car. Someone reliable and reasonably priced.
5) Light upgrades, I'm not enjoying the yellow and want to change out bulbs for headlights and rings.

Thank you in advance chaps, really looking forward to starting the journey of properly restoring this car.

Hi

I'm looking at buying a 2011 model. What has been your driving experience thus far with this car. What should one budget for more or less.

Welcome, lovely car you have there..

(1) Not sure if DNS customs still does spray work, I'm sure one of the other Jhb based fanatics can help..

(2) There is a set for sale on the forum, https://www.bmwfanatics.co.za/showthread.php?tid=89309.. Alternatively have your original trim wrapped (DIY or DNS customs/similar)

(3) PM Peter@AEW on the forum for Koni/Bilstein shocks..

(4) Will let a Jhb based member advise, I know DNS customs offered detailing a while ago.. PM them on the forum and find out.

(5) You just need to change your bulbs from the yellow to the white bulbs, Mo@AutoXcessorize used to sell them.. Not sure if he still does.

Welcome. You certainly bought a solid car that should give you many happy miles. :bravo:

My 335i e90 also has wooden trim with a cream interior. Initially i hated the wooden trim and swopped it out for the carbon look.

But i missed the classy wooden look and put it back in. The wooden panels gives the interior a more luxury feel compared to silver. In my 120d and X1 i have the brushed silver and i dont like it.

Just my opinion.

Driving experience has been great so far. If you get the M-sport you can expect a harsh ride but on the high-way and over long distances it becomes very comfortable. Steering is quite heavy and can be a pain in city driving conditions but you appreciate it when you hit the corners and you need some feedback along with a connected feeling. Economy is great, power delivery is probably as good as it can be for a 2litre diesel that's 8 years old.

I would budget around 3k for minor services and would definitely recommend spending 1.5k on decat, it unlocks a little extra power and makes the turbo sound come through a bit better. Definitely makes it feel less smothered. I think this car is well worth the money now if you don't mind a dated interior and guys asking if they can buy it wherever you stop.

Yeah the wood is much classier trim option, I do agree.
But I have a colour theme plan for the car and the wood is just going to look terrible with it. Will put up pictures once I get to adding the colours ;)

Wahahahaha, I am looking for one myself and have been considering doing this if I see a nice one - although I think most people would want too much or not be interested in selling.

I personally prefer the wooden trim, if I get mine and it has aluminum and you're still looking I will be happy to do a swap.

Not sure how easy it is? Especially the centre section with the gear level etc?

You'll be very happy if you decide to get one. I'd be keen if you find one and want to swop trim. It pops off very easy, I removed all of it and wrapped it in gloss black, it really came out nicely and the panels basically pop off when you pry them off with a prying tool. Posting some pics of the wrap when I finished.
