So this weekend. I stripped my bumper and pulled the headlights off. Reason being was go install new xenon bulbs, Osram CBIs 5000k, 32W LED amber angel eyes and a set of new ballasts. Xenons are super bright and perfect white, they still need coding which I will hopefully do next week.

Anyway here are the angels let me know what you think.

Looks awesome Diesel - but wholly cow that's a load of work you have to do to get to these.

Thanks Charlie, it's not my garage though. It's brilliant mechanical workshop. They were kind enough to let me use the lift over the weekend for my DIY. The car will have its gearbox oil changed and the oil leak which you can see on the intercooler diagnosed on monday by them.

Surprisingly it's actually extremely easy to remove the bumper. 4 screws on top under the hood. A couple underneath the bumper attached to the bash plate. Unscrew a bit of the fender liner. Pull it back and unscrew the screws behind the fender liner. Pull the bumper off a bit and unplug the fogs. And you're done. It was the first time removing my e90s bumper and took about an hour. Having the car on the lift did make things a 100 times easier.

I could have changed the bulbs with the bumper on. But I suspected the tabs at the bottom of the lights were broken and wanted to remove the lights and have new tabs welded on. Turns out they weren't broken just missing their screws. It was also alot easier to work on the lights with them off the car. I had to wire the leds ballast thing inside the light. And my bumper is going to get sprayed. So I'm just going to drive the car to the body shop when the car is finished at brilliant with the bumper off. The body shops fairly closeby.

Good eye. Thanks to Ric for helping out with the wiring and holding the other side of the bumper when pulling it off.

Yeah, for a moment there I thought it was your shop as well. I'm thinking up ways to get a hoist in my garage as well...

Looks epic. Been wanting to do it in red though, with a whiter/bluer hid compared to stock.
Where Did you get the parts from?

By the way, carbon fibre look kidney grill will compliment your splitters

Just remeber red is completely illegal. My angel eyes are "noble amber" in truth more orange than amber. Amber, while a shade of orange, is slightly more yellow. But I should get away with them. Red you'll have some serious trouble.

I had 6000k HID bulbs which were supposedly oem philips but they're fakes. Like 90% of the philips and osram bulbs out there. And basically the light output was not all that great being fakes and from 5000k you start to loose light output. Which is why I bought these osram CBIs 5000k which I was told are the best bulbs and there are the whitest white before it goes blue.

I'm going to be taking the splitters off as the fitment is not great (after buying them on the premise fitment was 100%).

I have been offered a set of oem splitters which are slightly damaged which I'm going to have sprayed gloss black. Not a huge carbon fibre guy.

And I bought the parts from theretrofitsource in the usa while I was there. I wouldn't trust anyone in this country selling "philips" or "osram" bulbs unless philips or osram directed me there.

Am aware of the legal issues.

Regarding the hids, are they direct fit? Mine are going purple Which mean they on it's way out =( Was even contemplating getting from from scrap yards but really really hate the oem yellow look after warm up.
Car is giving problems left, right and centre And money is the one thing I'm really short on.

By chance, Would you want to part with them at a decent price? do you have any pictures of the light output? The fakes ones, that is.

One of the bulbs is pretty stuffed. It would late fire so it's on its way out. Was going to just keep the other as a spare. Yes they were direct fit. If it's not a direct fit you have the wrong bulb. They're d1s bulbs. Not sure if I want to part with it though. Not sure what to tell you HID bulbs are expensive my osram bulbs were R2400 for the pair. The 4300k ones are alot cheaper.

No sweat! Just thought since you didn't want them , thought we could work out something Where both parties gained.
Also prefer to replace them in pairs.

I got quoted nearly 2000 for one 4300k bulb!!!
Where Did you get the pair for 2400?

Sounds like dealer prices. Like I said I got my stuff from theretrofitsource in the usa. Try call osram or philips and find an official reseller.
