I can comment on the new Audi A3 1.8T, as I've driven one, it feels very light compared to the previous generation. I was impressed with the overall performance vs fuel economy of the car. The interior is a mark of clutterless design, it is an absolutely simple car to get going, and everything is where it should be. The flip up screen is very cool, and so is the volume knob which allows you to select the next track by snicking the knob right or left for the previous track. Car was bluetooth ready, so any music files on your phone will play throught the sound system. It has some cool LED lighting here and there in the interior like around the cupholders. THe seats where very supportive, only down side was the rear leg roof which appeared a bit less compared to the old A3. Car was equiped with paddle shifters which are always a joy to use on the S-Tronic box.
Asthetically the front end does seem to work a bit better and look more cohesive than the 1Ser. The performance in the different drive modes is also interesting as putting it into effieciency mode really strangles the cars response but the economy does improve. Dynamic and Individual modes allow for grin factor, and Individual allows you to specify your own settings. I came anyway impressed with performance, economy quality, interior design. Even though the design is clean and sporty, it could have been a bit more visually different to the old one, I think the rim design on the car being too close to the rim on the old A3 didnt help, sure a better rim would make a difference. Also interior space was a bit lacking for me, but to me these are the only down sides to the new A3 as the rest of the package is top notch.
I cant comment on the 1ser driving experiance as I havent driven them, but on looks alone all I can say is :nonono: and what where they thinking with the white grilles and wheels.............:yuck:
