Hi all

I'am new here.. "Hello". I when and buy my first BMW 116i this month.
Love this car and it is awesome to drive..

I have a question? I am 28 . I'm busy to see what my
Fuel usage is and I get the feeling there is something wrong. I get +- 10 l/100km other times 12 l/100km. I don't speed. on BMW site it says that the car can get to 5.6 l/100km. I will be happy with 7 or 8 l/100km.

Maybe it is that the car only done 1452km. Engine is New

Thanks..
Barry

Welcome, remember power to weight ratio. Even in my 318 my fuel economy is not that great, drove a buddies 330i and his is on par with me, around 9l/100km.

Looks nice and Congratz

Gradually, your car will get lighter as it is still new now. Infact, after your first service, you should notice a difference.

welcome and I agree with Mr Occo. Smaller engines does not necessarily mean better consumption.

When it is small turbo engines it does actually.

If the car were mine I would drive until it is up to operating temperature and then get on the highway, reset the consumption and drive about 50km on cruise control or maintaining a constant speed of say 110kph. If the consumption isn't close to say 6/7l/100km I would take the car to BMW and have them check it out.

small engine + big ass body = crappy consumption. I was in that situation with my previous car ( Citroen C5 1.6THP).

Oh and welcome , Very nice car bud

Hey...
Thanks!!! & thanks for all the info.. I will try it.

What is your feeling on the auto start/stop? Do you think the starter will be abel to handle the stress of starting every time the car stops.?

Thanks.

Welcome and very nice ride.

These guys are right, as the car gets run in the consumption will get better.

You see the problem with the fuel usage is your 28, if you were 30 this would all change...

Nice car , consumption should drop as the car's mileage increases , also are you driving in traffic only ? That would explain alot . Town driving you should get around 9l/100km and on the highways around 5/6/7 l/100km .

New 116i is completely different from the previous version. I really like this version and it's features are also very amazing. Mostly I like it's handling control and power staring. As well as it's look is also very nice.

Lol.. Yes. I do drive an lot, go to customer alot in a week. The consumption did get better. Get +-680km on a tank. I'm happy with this. The power is awesome and the handling is wow... I love this car. It is just the auto stop/start that bugs me. Thanks...!

bro, just read again what we say. Even if it has a "small turbo" motor, fact is in a bigger heavier car, that motor has to work harder then in a small lighter car.

I agree with you George. These cars should easily return 7l/100km if you drive on the freeway. It does afterall have 100kW and 220Nm on tap.
