Il love the new model. It is unmistakenly a beemer and still close in looks to the outgoing model. But at the same time distinguishable from the previous model. The interior is good looking too and resemblances of the previous model, yet updated in this one. It looks and feels bigger on the inside and outside.

But it is the stuff under the skin that will beat the arguments against it. Also remember SA is a small market for BMW in the 1 series. Its huge markets such as Europe (spain etc) where this model has in the past and will in the future sell and dominate.

I am completely convinced the 116 with its turbo configuration will be the pick of the bunch in SA.

Thx @ri

Yes, exciting times. Pricing seems steep but then you pay for typical BMW dynamic driving and handling.

Still rotary Aircon controls. Wft BMW, when is climate control goin to be a standard feature on a 1. Even the X1 lower models don't have climate control.
The 118i will be a good alternative to a Cooper S. Similar performance and KW, more practical and will surely have a more comfortable ride. The looks will grow on everyone. Can't wait to see it in the flesh

Sure the cars will be little fire crackers, but will reserve my judgement on the looks until I've seen one in the flesh. The photos have not impressed me at all.

The 3 series was still being tested on the Nurburgring, while we were there. The new 335 was on the ring and sounded fierce. From what we could make out despite the camo is that the 3 series is not a radical departure from the current shape...like the 1 series....but appears like a brand new model.
