Need test driver for 540i in Johannesburg - PLEASE HELP

Hi guys,
I'm looking to buy a 1999/2001 E39 540i, both have over 200 000km on the clock. I want someone to help me scrutinise the vehicle before I make the purchase.
I'm not sure what to look out for when buying a second hand car, and I wont know if the engine is about to fall out or not.

IMO, I would first go the AA route, then get someone to give you a driver's perspective.... but that's me!:dunno:

Ask gizmo if owner / dealer can take it around to him , ask for test drive , go to Cape Town ( Jandre ) and Somerset West ( Rick 540 ) :clap:

During the week unfortunatly.

I work in Randburg, but stay fscking HOURS away from there according to this mornings traffic, 2 hours for 40km.... was time well spent smoking cigarettes, and listening to a bucket load of bloodhound gang, no wonder I am in a strange mood.

Well, the boys are far better then I am with the mechanical side as my knowledge is limited and I am still very much learning, however I can spot accident damage or paint blemishes a mile away with one eye closed...

I love exploring new cars, so if ya ever do need a second opinion, and willing to pop past randburg during the day, I would dig to help

It's already too late for me, didn't do enough homework...the car looked good, especially the interior so thought it would be a simple fix, new fender, new light, new bumper, tie rod end, and presto! Anyway check out my thread and tell me what you think...

Thanks for the help, but I stay in Meyersdal and work close to it as well....this is as far south as you go before hitting the R59 for Vereeniging....
I think I will wait with the purchase until I can afford a proper one for R135K or so. This one is just dodgy and my finance are dodgy as well. Going on a LOW basic with good comm....times are tough! But hey, I've still got a job thank the Lord!
I would also not want the payments (R1200 p/m) and insurance (R1500 p/m) without a rock solid job.
This is a sad day for me...but I will have my 540i...if its the last thing I ever do!:thumbsup:

I did meyerton on Sunday for a birthday... and then I got home, and had to do Meyerton AGAIN cause my "loskop" wife forgot the wallet in Meyerton.... but I went alone on that one, and did a round trip in under an hour... was amusing
