Good morning,

I have a 2004 E46 Compact 320d and really need some help to get my car through it's mot as it ran out last week. About 7 months ago my car had new track rod ends and tracking, a few hours later i had the traction control light and the yellow handbrake light come on. Last week my mot had ran out also my tax 3 days ago. I have tried everything to get those lights to dissapear, I had tried new ABS/Speed sensors still nothing, Took it in last week for a mot and failed me on that light and also told my my trackrods have gone again. Had them done again yesterday with tracking and it's still not right. My C110 Bmw diagnostics came up with this code "5e40 Steering Angle Implausible"

Any Idea's? Really need to get the car back on the road :(

Thank You.

That error code points to a failed steering angle sensor which sits on the steering column. I don't know if the E46 works in the same way, but the stability control warning light will illuminate on the E83 X3 if there is no valid steering angle value from the sensor.
