Hi!

I wonder if there's a nice bud with a E60 that can meet me in Cape Town to test the Micro Power Module (MPM) that sits under the spare wheel.
I have a battery drain due to the car not going into sleep mode and tested almost everything. To test the MPM I need another one to connect and see if it send the car to sleep mode. Its a 20 min test.

Thanks in advance

Hi Bud,

You are going to laugh at me, but have you chcekd your door handles ?

Its a known fault that the sensor on the door handle that senses somebody is entering the vehicle goes poof, and because of that, the car never goes into sleep mode, hence your battery drain.

You can do the test simply by unplugging your door modules, and see if your problem goes away.

Hi Bud,

Infact I never tested that. I'm going to strip the glove box and unplug the CA unit to test.

Thanks!

CA as in comfort access ?

Yea it could be that, but the door modules or Satelite modules as they are known are independant, so that could only be half of your battle.

Door cards off, and simply unplug.

I have an intermittent drain as I can hear at times that the crank on the car is slower than others and at times hear a buzzing noise when the car is switched off.

What dat? :flyfun:

Almost sounds like the buzz you get from a fuel pump but I know that it is not the case. Just trying to describe the type of sound before someone kaks me out :fencelook:

Are you sure it's not the fuel pump?
Mine does that buzz all the time for 2 sec every minute and it's the fuel pump. Try to unplug a connector from the fuel circuit and then you see if it throws fuel or not. Mine throws!

Its the air vents shutting.

My frequency is around the same but like I mentioned, it is intermittent

Any of you got tracking on the cars I had endless problems on my E60 cartrack had to install it twice as. I drive kept warning me of a battery drain. After it was put in after the last time it seemed to get a bit better but it was always there , I even had diagnostics done on the car and there was no fault on the E60 the tech at the stealers (who actually seemed very clued up and interested in solving the problem ) told me its common on e60that tracking devices stop them from sleeping . and the only system that does not cause these errors was c-track or the bmw system

I thought about that also but where can I find if my car has a tracking system?
Remove the back right hand panel giving you access to. Where the battery is on the right hand side above you're battery you will have a big fuse distribution box if you loosen this. The whole fuse mounting plate moves , if you look into the body panel behind there. And the bumper there is a recess with sponge in there you will most likely find two wires with inline blade fuses running back to the fuse plate
Be very care full not to short out anything when loosening this also beware of the airbag in the back compartment that disconnects the battery in a accident. You play in there at your own risk!
if you find it just remove the two in line fuses

It seems that I have no tracking system. I have no wires coming to the fuse panel.
Thanks for the explanaition.

I'm not 100% if they install them anywhere else on e60 but the tracker tech told me that's were they go in a e60 I my car there was a old netstar unit in the same location as well thet they disabled for me , I think you need to go to the stealers
