hi guys

just docked in Durbs - the run down was full of fun

but my GPS has gone crazy

although i know the way home:slap:,i use it to check my distance and time to arrival.

but on my way down - the arrow rotates and asks for a u-turn

everything from the distance is wrong -and that voice prompts :censored:

this only happens while moving - but to set it no problem
any one come across this before?

any resetting - only plan on doing anything when it's dark

my family and i are being cooked here with the heat - want to go back to Jozie.

If you told it to avoid toll roads, then it'll ask you to turn around and follow other raods. Time will also be afffected by this and also distance. Check your route prefferences: there are toll roads, highways, gravel roads, etc..

okay, i understand. I agree with it maybe being a sattelite issue then, because that isalso what happens sometimes with my Garmin while the BMW Nav is spot on.

sorry for the late response -the body got a bit thirsty with this heat.:spit:

i did check the route setting -i noticed in small black writing

POSITION NOT AVAILABLE - i did try using it again

if i input a destination -it works fine

once i start to move - thats when it goes in circles

also thinking of antenna issues -

yeah mrv -user issues

had some nice runs down

new x5 4.4 -couldn't shake him -

as for the g5 - i think we'll have to make an appearance

he ran me from the toll - only caught in 4th and saw him in my mirror

don't fret. I believe the general consensus is that the BMW user-interface for the MKIV navigation is not the most user friendly there is. I've fiddled with the first I-Drive: just as difficult. Although the new I-Drive is the most intuitive, utilitarian interface BMW has come up with.

thanks guys

i noticed once you have a destination and the arrow appears -press the right knob and you get a menu for position -scale -direction.

my first issue was position -so i set position and then set it
to pointing north.

after that - it came right -

once i arrived i discovered the co pilot :thinker: ( my 4 yr son )

was playing around -so i corrected it again and he went straight back to the exact place and changed the position cause that way he could get the map to move.:)

thanks for the help
