Hi Kugs

We co-ordinated and ran that Welbedacht feeding scheme for about 10years until a new team took over.
It's a lot more accessible now than what it used to be.

That is also an idea as I know of a central centre in Welbedacht where all the children gather should this be an option as well to donate toys.

Sorry about the late reply yulz yes the roads are all blacktop now so thats great yes most of the people down there are really poor so it would be nice to put a smile on those kids faces and i know they will love our rides :inlove:

What food items do you need?
Are we cooking a large pot? Or making hampers?
My dad's a good cook and we have the big pots to cook in

Best to cook food in the big pots and we dish out plates of food.
Best to get all members actually participating on the day by dishing and distributing plates of food. Everyone gets that good feeling of helping others

If your dad can cook, we can pay for the ingredients etc.

Poll is closed. So feeding scheme and toy distribution it is.

So what numbers are we looking at?
What meals are we serving?
Are we planning a fun day for the kids (jumping castles etc) or are we just serving out a plate of food?

Lets start planning towards it (it will be nice if we had some input from the 40 odd kzn members too)

Ok so did some research over the weekend.
There is a local temple group that cooks the food for feeding in Welbedacht every single Sunday without fail and a family friend started doing it out of his own pocket.

So how it works is they are willing to cook for us and even meet us at the feeding point with the food and we can help distribute. We just need to donate the funds for cooking. I will call and find out the amount.

Maybe if everyone brings their toys on the day too, we can distribute as well. There are literally hundreds of children that rock up. Numbers are very hard to estimate as literally a few hundred almost a thousand pitch up for food.

It's best if we get these guys to cook the food as they now know the quantity to cook etc.

I will find out funds required and then maybe if we can get the funds together from the various members.

Many guys have put their names down. Can we maybe have some input from you guys? Would love to have everyone participating here and not just Reagz and I trying to make it happen.
Do you have your children(s) old toys to donate? Maybe you willing to buy new toys or contribute towards feeding.
Please let us know and have your say here.

I'm away on business from Friday morning so will try get all info regarding the feeding and toy distribution by this evening and give you guys proper info and details by Wednesday latest.

EDIT: Sorry Reagz to answer your questions. I think best meal is breyani. Easiest and somewhat nourishing.

I don't think the fun day will work in a public area like Welbedacht, will work better with orphanages etc. So I think best is the distributing a plate of food to all and toys for the younger ones.
This is a great initiative as all that attend from our side will have the opportunity to serve and distribute which is far better than the usual cheque book charity

that sounds like a great idea Yulz im in for donating for the food and will see what i can do about toys...

how many toys should i try get? If i need to get 1000 toys it will have to be something cheaper... lets hope the others put some input in :)

maybe PM all that put there name down there may be some that just miss this thread...

Thanks Moranor.
Toys are up to you, we really aren't able to cater for everyone obviously and sadly I doubt there will be enough to please everybody so we just have to give what we can.
So however many you are willing to donate and what suits your pocket will suffice.

Ok spoke to my dad now, he said we looking at approximately 200 Children.
He goes and helps with the feeding normally.

200 is alot less than 1000 :)

I think most people are suffering at work now and are very busy so lets make it easier for them...

you need to dictate when we going and set the time... or this will never get done :(

maybe we should start donation collection now we all pay into your account and once we know how much there is it will be easier to decide what the money should be spent on... people can still bring odds and ends on the day... but we need to make sure there is an EVENT :)

Yes, what I'll do is create a separate banking account especially for this event and have you guys put money into there.

The date is 2nd December which is a Sunday and time I will confirm once I find out the procedure of the feeding scheme. I'm seeing the guy tonight so will find out all relevant info.

Right so the feeding costs R1500.

Please PM me for banking details and lets get this project rolling.

I think we should send out a mass mail on this to get everyone aware... should be easy to raise that :)

Guys, just to add. The R1500 is for 3 large pots of food feeding between 500-600 people. Majority children.
I'm sorry I keep giving you different approximate numbers. The guys that feed usually have come back to me now with the above info
