She has been rebuilt from turbo to naturally aspirated. I am just trying to give a brief history and hopefully some useful informstion to members. What i am posting curently is how I got her going until engine failure and then the rebuild in South Africa. Later...

Then I fiited Champion plugs as the car was misfiring with the NGK's. replaced control arms, tierods, a 3.64 LSD and off I went to a drag strip. Momths of suffering and struggling and spending cash and sleepless nights, I decided to go out and ENJOY her!!! Check this out. CLICK ON PICTURE>
Excuse the commentary. It was my daughter getting all excited. The car was a beast!!!

That was the 4th August 2012 that she performed so well. On my way back from the drags about 10km from home I was in a group of cars showing off dicing. Was doing 200km/h in 4th gear. Moved out to overtake. Floored her and only noticed that she was doing 200km/h. Did not check the rev counter. Was at night as well. Should have changed to 5th already, and the next moment, SMOKE from engine. Pulled over. Car still idled. Switched off and towed her home. Sunday I was licking my wounds... Monday a mechanic pulled engine and this is what was found! Injector failure on no6.

After all the time, effort and money... It was time to regroup... Decided to send her to Level7 in Benoni to be fixed. Sent car on a truck in September 2012.

So, she arrived safely. Was then put on a trailer and taken to Shaun at Level7. After some time there I finnaly opted to go the Naturally aspirated route. Reason was that we do not have mechanics or workshops doing turbo builds, that is lowering compression by machining pistons, or shorter conrods, etc
So here are some pics of what Level7 did:

Engine in and I flew down to SA in February this year to collect her and drive her back home.

There were a few problems that still needed to be sorted out and I returned home leaving her in Benoni. There was also an attempt to steal her but luckily the guys did not succeed.

So she was home in Namibia March April this year after a lot of issues at the SA Border and Namibian border.

So she was back home, FINALLY. But the days in the sun have taken their toll. paint started cracking. Now she needs to go for a make-over...

On bonnet

So, until the stripping process starts please feel free to ask questions about the car...

Good on you for making her original. Sure you can make them pretty fast by turbo charging, but after I started to put my 318 back to original after I bought it the drive just got better.

Can you post some more picks of the covered dash??

Hi, I asked them the upholsterers to recover in suede and leather. They had the dash for almost 3 months citing excuses that the person who does the recovering is on sick leave, time, other projects. So, I got a dash that was done in a day or two. Could have been done much better... Here are a few more pics:

Started sanding down the iS last week, preparing her for a make-over. Doing it myself. Can't support the get-rich-quick businesses. Most panels straight and dent-free. Removed the mtech kit and started sanding with 600 wet removing the poor paint job done on her. She was originally henna rot but previous was bored one day and sprayed a lighter red on top of the henna red paint.

So far I have done the bonnet and lower sections of the car every day after work. Skipped sanding today as muscles are aching as I am also ot that young anymore...

Found that the rear left quarter panel has lost the 3 hooks that clip/slide into the sill. Was wondering if there is perhaps a member on this forum who has one gathering dust... who might want to extend a helping hand in the form of selling it to me. Bumpers are coming off next. Then strips and windows to be removed.

Apologies for links below. Cannot copy the image link on my Tab, thus the link to photobucket. Will rectify this tomorrow at work.

While the process of sanding the car was in progress I have also been busy looking for e36 M3 rims and tried them on the car....

And I also acquired this set of Throwing stars...

Turbine covers next on my list

And the struggle continues...

While sanding and stripping the car I fitted Throwing stars at the rear to alteady get a picture of what she would look like in future...
Process going well. Tomorrow I qm removing side windows, front window, rear seats, and left front seat. Door panels and strips are off already. If everything goes according to plan she might be dressed in her new paint by end of January
