Name and Shame - BMW JSN motors

Hi Guys

Just feel deeply disappointed in the workmanship that was done by JSN motors on my BMW 335i

As some of you were aware my clutch was on its way out towards the end of last year. I decided that I will send my car to JSN motors for a new OEM clutch and Dual Mass Flywheel at a great expense.

Work was carried and everything appeared fine. 1 month later I started feeling a pulsating vibration on the clutch pedal when the clutch was completely released. Also after a while the car would jump forward even though the clutch was fully depressed and in gear.

For the record I did do a launch with my car in order to set a good quarter mile time. This in its own was no different from the previous OEM clutch which lasted 125k km's. Due to logic I assumed that I had damaged the clutch.

So due to issues experienced now with clutch I decided to drop the gearbox to see if the pressure plate figures were warped. This was the only explanation for the pulsating felling on the clutch pedal.

Once I started the stripping process 90% of the bolts were hand tightened only and no force was required to loosen them. The shocking part was when we dropped the gearbox, the pressure plate bolts were not tightened down completely, no locktite was used as well. As a result of this inferior installation the fingers on the pressure plate was pulled skew due to movement of the pressure plate which resulted in the pulsating feeling.

Another issue noticed was that the gearbox input shaft was not greased and that the release bearing was completely destroyed.

I might has well have taken my car to a back door mechanic and I'm sure he would have done a better job.

Shame on you JSN:smashScreen:

Put everything back together and take it back, complaining of the symptoms you experienced whilst driving. They don't need to know you opened it.

lol integrity these days is very expensive. I had an issue when my car went to Auto Bavaria to have the motor and diff replaced. They messed up some covers ans stuff. Made a noise with BMW SA and they sorted well so I thought. I was then washing my car and decided to wipe the engine cover only to notice it was wobbly. I contacted BMW SA they said they don't know what I am talking about. Asked me to send pictures of which I did. They reply was they are still not sure what I am talking about. I ask BMW SA can I remove cover to show them where the problem lies. I get go ahead. I snap pics and send off.

Funny part Auto Bavaria come back telling me that I had no business removing engine cover. I did explain what the problem was as well as took pic of the problem area. Luckily I had it in writing that is was fine to remove cover from BMW SA.

Clearwaters came to the rescue, while the cover was being changed we noticed the grommet laying in the engine bay, Auto Bavaria broke clips and denied breaking the cover. Just goes to show most dealers are not willing to take responsibility and think we are cakes and don't know anything under the hood. I can report after having battle after battle with dealers and BMW SA my BMW is now finally sorted and going like a boeing.

My take on things like this. Is the top guys at JSN like other businesses cannot manage and inspect every job that's done. And especially at BMW dealers where the techs are paid per job and want to get them done asap and move onto the next one some mechs may take shortcuts. So my first step with this would be to take it back to them. Or if you wanted to do the job yourself. Take photos and video of each step and each issue. And then bring it to them and see how they handle it. If won't take the blame then it is fine to make them look shit but if they handle it well, maybe give you some free shit, fix your issue, and disciple or fire the tech responsible for the job then great. But now you'll never really know how they would of dealt with it.

Take it back, these days the consumer has a lot of rights to get good service in South Africa, and they would rather fix it than risk getting into a big scandal

Clutch issue has been fixed. Only costed me a new releasing bearing as the misaligned pressure plate figures damaged the release bearing.

If I had the time I would fix all issues on my car. I took the car to BMW with the assurance that it would be done right.

Frankly I dont have the energy to go back to them and complain as my work life takes every last ounce out of me.

Anyways I just created this thread as a warning to fellow fanatics.
Another friends M135i has oil on the undercarriage due to oil sump plug seal not being replaced and correctly torquered by JSN.

Was going to say all dealers are the same but I will say most. If it was not for maintenance plans they will struggle to get business, caused we forced to take it there they guaranteed work. Try sending your car in for faults, it take a back seat and servicing of cars takes priority. They wanted me to pay almost 2k for alignment, The service advisor actually asked me....who said you should do alignment every 10 000km, it's not required!!!

Tired of Auto Bavaria, car is going to Sandton Auto tomorrow hope they are better.

The above is not always true mate.

I had taken my vehicle in to SMG PMB for a fault. I drove in without any call and although I had to wait till the service cars were booked in, I had my car looked at, repaired, and returned to me that evening. That too on a Friday.
On a bleaker note, the BMW dealer/service manager in Nelspruit refused to assist me with a new globe for my brake light, which I'm assuming would've taken not more than 2 minutes.
BMW alignment is not your run-off-the-mill like at your local tyre shop. It's a lot more complex.
I doubt alignment is required every 10k kms.

Sorry but, having worked at a BMW dealership, I can tell you that it's exactly like your local tyre shop. Same equipment.
