Hey guys, so my n55 is still running stock at the moment and i keep getting a yellow engine fault.... im pretty sure its the HPFP because i tried to restart the car and hard a hard start ... then the fault went away and all power was back then a week later today same thing hapened but when i tried to accelerate the car bogged and then it would hard start and then when i rev it would cut out.... bt nw its working fine!!!!! Eish!!! but its booked in on tuesday...

thought they sorted this HPFP issue out on the N55!
I saw this from someone with N55 engine on e90post.com
Long story short:
1. went to trackday
2. drove like crazy
3. run out of fuel last session
4. reduced engine power + check engine light
5. car felt sluggish, poor throttle response
6. took it in for service, initial code pulled was "low fuel rail pressure"
7. got a call today from BMW that the fuel pump had failed and was replaced
disclaimer:
1. car has 15000 km, 9400 miles currently (stock)
2. march 2010 build date
3. had 2 longish cranks in the past (both after stalling, NOT cold starts)
4. i was running HARD when i ran out of fuel on the track that may have lead to the failure of the HPFP
5. i do not believe the fuel pump was defective, and instead i believe i have contributed to the damage
I had the same problem 3 times this year on my 335i “Engine Fault: Reduced Powerâ€. So far, this is what has been done:
Recall Campaign 10E-A02: N54 High-Pressure Fuel Pump
1. Item 0059091 Replace High Pressure Pump
2. Part 13 51 7 616 446XP AT-HIGH-PRES R4156.22
I see part 446 is the latest HPFP...I hear BMW is on N54 HPFP part number eight, at last count.
"Recall: Checking injectors in fuel injection system and removing, scanning and installing or replacing 3 injectors as required with the N54 engine produced from 04/02/2007 through 10/31/2008"
1. Part 13 53 7 585 261 Injector X3
2. Part 13 53 7 584 315 Gasket Ring
3. Part 13 53 7 564 751 Decoupling E
The cost was to BMW SA Warranty at R5082.40
I feel the car is not as powerful and responsive as it used to be. I will have to do a DYNO just to confirm this.
