n54135i vs x5m50d

guys

I would of thought the latest x5m50d will beat a stock bmw n54 135i. this happened the other day in KZN . At a robot the X5 took trying to impress his girl and smoke the little 135i . the 135i caught up in first gear and passed in 2nd to 3rd gear jumped in front till about 150kph where the x5 then started braking and stayed back . i could tell he was not impressed and underestimated the 135i thinking its to small to take on the might m50 engine . I could tell he was pressing that pedal , as he was sitting right near the rear of the 135i bumper but unable to pass.

now ,Im thinking my 135i is not stock ?IT IS listed at 135is and imported from Germany directly . came with a certificate of build from stuggart germany . I have checked and it has a bigger fan and extra cooler at brake duct .

to test this theory of it being modified - i raced my friend bmw e92 335i with downpipes , dci and i ran in front of him as well .
i tried a golf 7r and ran in front of that as well .

i do have a video if how the car sounds , which i cant seem to post on this site . i was told that sound is a boost leak . but alas if it is a boost leak imagine how much faster it can be .

I have never heard of the 135is being brought to SA but this motor was found in the Z4 35is which is rated at 250kw.

I thought so as well that it is impressive , baffled as well by it . I am beginning to think the oke i bought ir from (ex new zealand immigrant) has had some work done to the software .

The VIN number you have provided does match up with a 135iS. Below is a list of options that came with the car at the time of purchase.

Unfortunately as the manufacturer, we do not keep service records however if you check with the owner of the vehicle, they may be able to advise where they have serviced the vehicle and you can obtain the history from that particular dealership.

Kind regards,

Thats flippn impressive.

Well done bud
:bravo:

thanks bud .

i didnt know at the time of purchase what i was buying . Neither did the owner that was selling it . it is a 1 owner car from Germany , New zealand and back to SA. its my uncles friend that sold the car after it was in storage for so long . Bmw Sa does pick up the vin listed as 135i . But BMW New Zealand says its a 135is . ITS definately faster that a stock n54 .

OP, if you put the last 7 digits of the VIN in on www.bmwvin.com it will tell you what the output of the motor is as well as which model of car it is.

This site isn’t SA specific, so your VIN will register on there.

Thanks Ferdi .

This is interesting . Comes up as

Type Code UC72
E Series E82 ()
Series 1
Type COUPE
Model 135IS (EUR)

although power it states at 225kw .

the thing that worries me is the color . it comes up as ALPINWEISS 3 .

from the time the car was new it was Sedona red . Bmw confirmed as well when i did research initially and checked with CARJAM New Zealand to check for their police clearance and mot testing and came up as Sedona red .

Could be error . none the less nothing can be done now about it . I have owned it for a few years .

very interesting find! Love to hear more about the car's history.

Any tell tale signs in the service book maybe? Stamps detailing info, or invoices?

from www..1addicts.com

It should have been a N54 last hurrah, mated to N55 trans, 550i clutch, full BMWP kit, PPK2, Msport, and a hefty factory tune similar to the departed 1M power output.
