N54 vs N55 - JB4

Right so, I had an N54 335.
I also had a JB4 and water/meth injection.
The car was an absolute joy to drive and that's pretty-much all the mdoding I would ever want.

Suppose a friend might buy an N55 and do similar mods.
Do they mod well enough with just chip and meth to give similar performance to the N54 with the same mods?

Mod vs Mod N54 makes more power using the JB platform. But N55 drivers come stock with 30whp on the right foot. Joking. But N54 is capable of holding higer boost for longer vs N55.

Cannot speak for N55 but my N54 jb4 only at the highveld made 227wkw and 519nm. I then drove down to the coast and the car felt mad wheel spin 1 and 2. I suppose at the coast you would get 237wkw easy.

Bumping this thread.......spoke to an N54 owner who recently started using a JB4 G4 unit and his car made 255 wkw and 528nm at the coast with some OB. Otherwise his car is stock :thumbs:

Mine did almost exactly that with a G5 + OB (no other mods), also at the coast.

Mine did almost exactly that with a G5 + OB (no other mods), also at the coast.

So seems like this substantiates the claim that the difference with power from the G4 and G5 boards is only realized as you add further hardware mods.

that's awesome power from the G4... my personal belief is that even though the g4 board is now obsolete and the G5 iso is the market leading product, I still like the linear way the G4 boosts and smoothness of the transitions into boost. however if you building the mods list the g5iso will a better stepping stone to start on..

G5 ISo makes more power = FACT. Tested 2 N54's on a roll G5 ISO on Map1 ran evenly with G4 on Map5.

With the N54, you can load a backend pump, race or E85 flash which allows for a lot more flexibility when modding.
