n54 oil filter housing gasket change

My N54 is leaking oil, I suspect it is the oil filter housing gasket leak. A couple of questions.

Where do I check ?
What does it cost to get it changed ?

On the N54 the oil filter housing has a gasket between the cylinder head and oil filter housing. To replace this gasket you need to remove the intake manifold to get to 1 bolt.

Also the oil cooler pipes connects to adaptor which mounts on the oil filter housing. The gasket between these parts are normally the one that goes. Suggest you clean with engine cleaner and observe from where leak is coming. Remove the intake snorkel to the airbox to get a better view of the leak.

Will also need to replace 2 o rings on the oil cooler pipes.

Gents, my car took 1l litre of oil today after I received a warning that my oil level was low. The last time I checked the oil level was probably 3 months ago (I used to check regularly but got a bit relaxed after seeing it being constant all the time) and it was on the max mark. Anyway, I see that there is some sweating around the OFHG.

Can anybody recommend where I can take it to get fixed? Any other items that I should consider sorting out while that work is being carried out by the shop? I will have them look at the belts and make sure no oil got onto them.

Where are you located?

The gaskets are cheap, the labor is a little pricey.

To replace gaskets, oil service and change the belt.

I just did mine a few weeks back and there was still a leak. The leak was from both ofhg and oil cooler gasket and I replaced those two small O rings on the oil cooler lines. So basically do the oil cooler gasket and those two o rings also. If you in pta I can put you in touch with the mechanic that did my valve cover gasket. Change the serpentine belt also. Once Oil gets on them they go bad fast.

Hi Akash,

I am in Barbeque Downs. Thanks I will give them a call. Man that is pricey but probably understandable if they carried out a service and changed belts as well.

Thanks for the info.
