N54 JB4 w/ BEF: 93 octane + E85 or 109 octane

Hi all

I have a E93 N54 w/ JB4, stage 3 (DCI, FMIC, decat, Al chargepipe, BOV, etc) w/ MHD BEF.

Any thoughts on whether I should run standard 93 octane petrol + E85 (30-40% blend), or purchase 109 octane fuel? Or even blend 109 + E85?

Thanks Frank

Start with 109 octane straight and log the car on map 2 on the pump BEF and take it from there.

For daily use map 2 and 93/95 octane and the BMS pump BEF flash is fine for your mods.

Hi Twinz, thanks for that.

I was wondering if 93+E85 wouldn't be better from both a cooling and cost perspective? 109 is R45/litre, and E85 R40/litre, so a blend of 93+E85 would be way cheaper than 109, but I understand would have very similar performance benefits? Is 109 a much better solution?

Thanks Frank

What i was suggesting is to start your test with 109 octane and log the car.

Using e85 introduces variables that you need to consider such as the capacity of your HPFP and LPFP.

A mix of e85 with pump fuel will give good results but you then need to data log to make sure the car is coping with the mix.

with the mods listed sounds like normal FBO mods ?:sorry:
